Question about Sony VPL PX40 Multimedia Projector
I recently bought 2 second-hand Sony VPL PX40 projectors. Each one of them emits a yellow hue in the centre of the image they project. Because these were second-hand & cheap, I'm happy to cannibalise one of them, if that's what it takes!?
Bit of a common problem with Sony projectors of the era that they often had problems with fading and/or cracking of one or more the LCD panels - especially the blue ones for some reason, leading to the type of problem you are experiencing. No point in swapping components either as they will both have similar faults - although replacing an LCD in a video projector is almost impossible without the manufacturers jigs to mechanically align them afterwards anyway...

reset the settings to factory default and change your cable. if that doesn't help, the polarizer filter on the blue lcd panel is fried due to excessive dust and heat. the optical engine will need to be replaced.
