Need to know if this machine is a hot fill type. Solenoid is plain not red coloured. I presume it's a cold fill.

Actually every dishwasher I've worked on had one water inlet and it was always for hot water. Approximately 3 gallons per cycle.

Water level not working / water will not stop

Really need to know the type of machine. I had a problem with our front loader, the water slowly kept entering the machine and would slowly fill it. First you need to drain the machine, use the drain spin cycle. Next turn off the water at wall connection. You could use this as a temporary fix. The problem is most likely the solenoid control vales. This should be an easy fix. Normally one unit for the hot and cold. Order a new one and replace it. Type in your machine make and model and the problem. There should be instructions online to replace the part and ordering of a new one. Hope this helps.

Does the hotpoint need hot water to feed it or does it heat its own water i.e has a cold water feed

Hi,

If it has 2 water inputs one is for hot (normally marked with RED) and the other for cold (sometimes no colour, sometimes plain white) .
If it has one input it is for cold.
In BOTH cases the washer will have a heater, in case the hot water supply is not hot enough and for heating the cold ;-0)

Hope this answers your question,
John C

Which is the hot water inlet

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Normally on washers the hot water inlets are marked with RED and the cold BLUE.
I am presuming you do not have a manual in which case -

You will need to type into your search engine the '(make) washer manual' and you should be presented with a number of sources from which you can either download a manual for free or have to pay a nominal amount. During the process you will be asked for the actual model number!

Good luck,

John C

My washer won't fill when you put it on the cold cycle

Does it fill in hot cycle? (I'll assume the cold water valve at the wall is turned on and you know for certain that the water flows from that point.) It is possible you have either a stuck or bad water solenoid in the washer. I would first verify power to the solenoid (you could have a bad wire). If the solenoid's ok, and you can get to it (some disassembly required) you may be able to persuasively tap the solenoid to unstick it.

No cold water only hot water will filling

The water inlet valve solenoid is probably faulty. You can check it using a multimeter or ohm meter for continuity to see if it is faulty. The solenoid is most likely faulty on the cold water side. Here is a picture of the inlet valve solenoid assembly. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Hot point aquarius 1100 - does this have a heating element for cold water feed ? or does is need direct hot water feed ? (there is a inlet at back for both hot and cold so presume no heating element ?)

All Hotpoint washers have heater element regardless of whether they are cold fill only, or hot and cold fill.
if 2 connections at rear, then it is hot and cold fill, if only 1 connection, then it is cold fill only.
Please rate my solution.
Thanks.

Hooking up the cold and hot water in back of the washing machine

In a word Yes!!

The machine will fill with Hot water to rinse and if that water is as hot as the normal supply your clothes will shrink and the colours will run.

You need the hoses and the supply to the hoses to be correct so that when you put it on a cool wash it fills with cold water and brings the temperature up to the right level.

Bringing in hot water will kill the soap powders action.

Also the machine adds hot and cold water to make sure that it gets a correct balance for other programs

If you are not sure how they are connected then look at the back of the machine, there should be either a H and C stamped into the backplate or the inlets are Red and (White or Blue).

If the hoses coming from the fawcets are the same colour then take one off the machine place the end in a bucket and turn the fawcet on , if it does not get hot then its the cold one so then make sure it goes back onto the C or the White connector

Bosch WFD 2460 Washig Machine

Hi, It sounds like you have the two water pipes fitting on the wrong connectors on the back of the machine.

IE: The hot water pipe (RED connector) on the cold water inlet on the back of the machine (BLUE connector)

Is should be red to red and blue to blue.
