code U0100 refers to a control area network(CAN bus) problem some where in the CAN bus network an electrical connector , wiring harness, , module has failed or a computer has crashed
The code appears when there is a serious situation where the signals between the electronic control module (ECM) or the power train module (PCM) or a particular module has been lost
It is not a common problem and is most likely a failure in the ECM or the PCM or the transmission control module (TCM)
bent or pushed out pins , loose ground ro the computer or jumping a dead battery or crossing the terminals while jumping will destroy a computer
code U0001is the high speed communication (CAN bus ) between modules . can be from bad connections , loose wires , disconnect battery , dead battery or wrong jumper application a good scan tool will detect any faulty control modules so use it to find and fix the faulty module or wiring
for more interesting advice just go to your browser search bar and type in --how to repair code U0001
any other codes that you need help on
That sounds an awful lot like the ECM is having trouble. Since the model year is nearly 7 years old, it is possible that the ECM is toast or that a wire or two has a corroded connection. Have a look at this information: http://engine-codes.com/u0100_saturn.html
you have to do that cycle 3 times, battery needs to fully charged.
Hood to stay closed, doors also(roll down the drivers window)
Kill the DRL headlights if possible(try putting the E-brake on)
Crank and leave key on,10 min or till light goes out, then key off,,no need to wait 5 min here, crank again.leave key on,,,,,3 times.
By the way, disconnecting the battery in that vehicle will not do anything like clear codes or memory, may need the radio code in the owners manual also.
This problem is with ecu / ecm= engine control computer. These are a common and horrible problem on vw's, particularly on tdi's. The signs in a tdi are when car dash lights come on, but no glow plug light, trans gear lights flash, but car still tries to crank. And hopefully ecu has enough power to out out code u0100= no communication with ecu. Unfortunately the ecu will need to be replacd. The ecu is located under the hood, near and under the wipers. Used ecu with same codes run $50-200. New $1000. If get used one make sure has a return policy. codes must match production quarterly year.
