When i turn on my psp the green light will come on but the screen won't come on and then a few seconds later the green light will shut off completely.

Hi tokyo_grl,
First you have to figure out what is causing the problem. Try the following steps.

1. Remove anything that is connected to the PSP, including the
Memory Stick, battery and any UMD games.
2. Plug the charger into both the wall and the PSP system, then wait for at least 30 seconds before turning the psp on.
--If the PSP turns on, your problem is not with your PSP, but with an accessory that was previously attached. If it does not turn on, your PSP is in need of a repair.
3. Next, unplug the power adapter from the PSP, and firmly place the battery into the PSP.
4. Plug in the Power Adapter once again, and wait at least 30 minutes for the PSP to begin charging, then try and power on the PSP system.
--If the PSP does not power on with the battery plugged in, but it did with just the charger, you need a new battery. If it powers on, do the next step.
5. Place the Memory Stick inside the PSP , and turn on the power. If the PSP does not turn on, but it turned on without the memory, you need a new memory stick.

If your PSP did not turn on during step 2, your PSP is bricked and indeed needs to be repaired by a qualified technician. I hope everything works out for you. Good luck.

How to reformat Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) Console?

To do a factory restore on the PSP just hold the power button up until the system fully powers off. Once the system is fully powered off hold all at once start + select + square + triangle, while holding these four buttons turn on the PSP, once the PSP is on let go of these buttons, it should take about a mintue or so for the PSP to load back up. You should see the settings you first saw when you first turned on your PSP.

To reformat the memory stick just go to settings > System Settings > Format Memory Stick,
be aware by doing this you will lose all the information stored on your memory stick, including music, pictures, games, etc.... Hope this helps, best of luck, don't forget to rate :)

When my psp is updating , the power turn off and psp doesn't turn on

Try this:
Remove the PSP battery and memory stick from the device. You will use these again so keep them close.
Insert the magic memory stick into the PSP card reader. The memory stick holds the firmware that will be flashed onto the PSP.
Insert the pandora battery and the PSP will turn on automatically. Press the "X" button twice to flash the firmware to the PSP. Press "X" again to shut down the PSP.
Reinsert the normal battery and memory stick and turn the PSP back on. Plug the PSP into its charger and go through the normal update process again by selecting "System Update" on the PSP menu.

Any idea hw to restore psp games

Backup up your games on a PC. Then Format your memory stick and put the psp games back in the memory stick if this does not work try formatting your psp by entering the recovery mode HOLD R + HOLD POWER...
Go to advanced/advanced config/format flash 1 and reset settings

if this also fails try using another memory stick on your psp

PSP Will not start

Hi,

What hapenned to all your PSP's is that they 'bricked'. When your PSP is installing an update and you interrupt the process, the data where the PSP's operating system (=firmware) is stored got corrupted (=broken). In very rare cases this can happen when you play a game and something goes wrong due that game. When your PSP is bricked the green lamp is on but the screen stays black.

Now straight to the point..The solutions:

1.If your PSP 'bricked' because you interrupted a system update (Powered off while updating, canceling update..), then you can only help it by re-installing the firmware correctly. NOTE: This is unsupported by Sony and is something you do on your own risk, for a usual PSP user it is a complicated process and i suggest you should let someone with experience do it. If you still want to attempt it, for example here's a tutorial for making a 'pandora battery' : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKFnuCfTPZo
To find more information about this subject you could seach on google for tags like 'psp pandora mod custom firmware jigkick'

2. If your PSP suddenly doesn't start up after or while you played a game, then you have a chance that you can recover your PSP without too much hassle. Simply let your battery run empty. After it's empty, remove the battery and let your PSP 'rest' a day without battery. After that, reinsert the battery, first fully charge it, and THEN start your PSP up (after your battery is fully recharged). If you have luck you might have your PSP working again.

3. Contact Sony and explain the situation. Explain that you did nothing wrong. If your PSP is still under warranty they should help you..

Good luck and if i helped you please leave feedback! Thanks

Cant get psp to work

Try Holding the R trigger and turn the power on at the same time. This puts you in a different mode. Press the display brightness button to see the version. Power off and back on again to see if that resets it. This is only a guess I would appreciate at least a thanks for trying.

Psp not working

This problem occurs when there is some problem with the firmware, it can be happen If you turn off the system or remove the memory stick during an update. If an update is cancelled before completion, the system software may become damaged. if so, you''ll have psp with blank on screen. try remove all plugin MS, Umd, etc, then press bright button of psp. if isn't work you need pandora battery to downgrading your firmware. hope this help.
