The chances are very less. Does it show any error "Boot loader missing"..then you should reinstall the operating system.
else download a boot mode antivirus software and scan your computer with it. use this link to dowload :

My son was watching a movie through a usb memory stick on his eee pc r101d. he pulled the stick out while the movie was playing, now netbook will not restart. I tried system repair, files loaded half-way...

Sounds like a critical system file was damaged. If the system repair fails (also safe mode), as a lastg resort you can always re-install Windows over the existing installation. Don't format the disc and you will find all of his old files in C:\windows.old

    My dell inspiron 1525 has a black screen with a white cursor showing

    First, I want to know if you sees the Dell logo after turning on the laptop? If yes then this is no boot issue.
    1. Immediately run the PSA. Make sure laptop is off. Press and hold down the Fn key, while holding down Fn key press the power button at the same time just once. Once the Dell screen loaded you can now let go of the Fn key. Check if the PSA will run short test for the LCD, RAM and HDD. When full color displays on the screen just press Y. PSA will continue. Just take note of any error code will appear on the screen such as 0141, 0142 and 0146 these are HDD failure errors which means HDD needs replacement. If the test says no errors found then proceed to step 2;
    2. Try restarting the laptop once you see dell logo then keep tapping F8. Select last known good configuration. Press enter key. Just wait and check if laptop will load Windows. If not then, restart laptop keep tapping F8 try to select safe mode check if it will load Windows. If not then prepare the Windows OS disc the one came with your laptop.
    3. While laptop is on insert the Windows OS disc. Restart the computer. On the Dell screen keep tapping on F12 to show boot menu. In the boot menu select CD/DVD ROM Drive. Press enter then keep tapping on space bar until it will say Windows loading files, please wait.
    4. In the User Interface it will show you some options to select. Once the Install screen comes up look on the lower part select Repair Your Computer. If will ask you to do Startup Repair, please do start up repair. If fails try the System Restore. If fails then step 5;
    5. If you have important files in your HDD then back up your files first. After backing up of files you can now install the Windows OS. Here is the process in installing the Windows OS. Insert the Windows OS disc, restart the laptop, keep tapping F12 on Dell screen, on boot menu select CD/DVD ROM Drive.Install the Windows OS. Just complete the installation.After the installation install the laptop drivers.

    The problem of your laptop is that once it has been attacked by a virus. In that very case that virus may be removed but the damage it has made to your OS cannot be restored unless you format your laptop with Windows XP/Vista.
    Or next best reason may be problem with your laptop RAM.
    You should quickly consult a good hardware engineer for sough ting your problem out. Bye

    Reboot your system-press and hold F8 until you get a list of options-select Safe Mode-enter.Your system will run in Safe Mode,giving you a dropdown list as it progresses-check where it stops.In this way you can establish wether you have a corrupted or incompatible driver and which {Graphic ie} stop the system.You will have to reload the OS to solve the problem.If you cannot even boot into Safe Mode,your drive very likely crashed.Happy landing.

    Constant hourglass symbol on blackberry

    Don't reload the OS. There are easier options. When this happened to my pearl I did the following until it worked.
    1. Power off then on. No success.
    2. Power off with batter out then power on. No success.
    3. Deleted extra pictures to clear up some memory. No success.
    4. Deleted the Facebook application I installed a couple of days ago. And did a manual restart. No success.
    5. Deleted another application that had been installed for about a year but this time let the OS do it's own requested restart to fully uninstall. SUCCESS!!

    All along I suspected it was the Facebook application trying to push updates. I deleted memory to clear up space if that was the issue. That wasn't. When I deleted the application I should've let the OS to the requested restart. The only reason I deleted the additional app was so I would get prompted again to do a OS restart.

    After restarting, I got a handful of old facebook messages sent to my phone even though the app was no longer there. I deleted the messages but my new problem was that the indicator light was still blinking to show I had new messages even though I didn't. Another power off with battery out finally fixed the whole thing.

    It seems like a lot of steps but this was much quicker and easier than reload the OS and losing all my apps.

    Maybe something is wrong with your power supply. If power supply get old, it will restart the computer by itself. Try to borrow a friend's power supply and test it out.
