I want to access cctv remotely using ie but it needs active x to view the video but activex wont promt. my question is can i install activex manually? how can i do it?
To view your DVR remotely through the internet web interface, you must properly set your ActiveX controls in Internet Explorer.
First - Make sure you are not connected to or ar tying to connect to the DVR! Close the Browser and open a new one if you have to.
In your Internet Explorer browser, select the Tools drop-down menu above, and choose Internet Options. Choose the Security tab in the corresponding pop-up window that comes up.
Now click on the Custom Level button at the bottom of the Internet Options window. Scroll down until you see ActiveX controls and Settings, and apply the following changes:[img src="http://asapcctv.com/software/standalone/img/CustomLevel.jpg">
Follow the image below for the correct ActiveX Settings. (The settings as shown does not make your system more vulnerable, but maximizes your browser's security, while putting the choice of operation in your hands on a case-per-case basis.)
NOTE: These settings reflect versions 6-9 of Internet Explorer. Depending upon your version of IE, your controls may not follow exactly the same order or have all the options shown below -- Just make sure those you do have match what is shown.
OK, and then return to your browser by clicking OK again.
Close your Browser and open a new one. You should now be able to install any ActiveX controls needed to run any DVR remote software.
Be sure to accept any requests for software installation after typing your DVR address into the browser address bar. There may be several controls to install.

How to enable ActiveX Controls in Microsoft Internet Explorer
Step 1: Go to the Tools menu, and select Internet Options.
Step 2: Once the Internet Options window appears, select the Security tab, and click Custom Level.
Step 3: Scroll down to the ActiveX controls and plug-ins group, and ensure that all ActiveX options are set to either "Enable" or "Prompt". Since the remote viewing software is published in an unsigned state, please make certain that the options "Download unsigned ActiveX controls" and "Initialize and Script ActiveX controls not marked as safe" are set to "Prompt". This way, when you visit the demo, you will be asked if you want to install the software.
Step 4: Click "OK" until you return to the browser.
Step 5: Direct your browser to the target demo system (DVR, IP Camera/Module, etc), and click OK/Install when prompted. As soon as your computer finishes downloading and installing the ActiveX remote viewing software, you should see video streaming from the system. If you only see a black area, with numbers, click your browser's refresh button or press F5 on your keyboard.
