Viking DDSB483DSS side by side 48" fridge High Temp Alarm

I'm getting a high temp alarm on the freezer side and I don't think its cooling on either side. I've celaned it out completely today ane emptied it, cleaned out the condensation tray at the bottom and restarted it but no luck. Also its not making ice. Any help would be appreciated - its about four years old....

Not sure if you had this resolved, but if 3 of your neighbours have the same issue, then rather than the unit being at fault maybe you should have the voltage in the street checked.

If you have a low voltage, not sure exactly but in the 110V area, then the compressor will not start and unit will thus defrost. The fact that you are getting the alarm at 4am would indicate that problem is in te evening as it has to be at 15 or above for over 2 hrs before the alarm sounds

SOURCE: Viking Pro VCBB36 -warming up + alarm

Over the past several years my heat alarm would come on, first time I called a PROFESSIONALLY, he told me to unplug for 24HOURS, than start it. The solution worked for two years, just happened again, unplugged it for 24 hours, and it seems fine. My guess it must need to defrost. Good luck!

The High Temp alarm on our Viking went off, it's 30F in the freezer, it should be 0F. I hit the Max Cool to see if that helps, not yet. There is still a red light under High Temp. What else can I do?

It is possible the Freon gas is low. You should get a professional person to check it out. You could have a small leak in one of the lines. If its an older unit might cost too much to repair. Your repair man should be able to tell you.

Viking fridge top and bottom model#vcbb536rss is beeping sporadically, the display screen is flashing, what is wrong with that? what part we need to check?

high low voltage board were likely not needed
board registers high temp and after a few days of constant high temp alarm will restart
by replacing low volt board all you did is start with empty register also when replacing low volt board they have to be programed for your model
sounds like you need service for your cooling issue

Why would my fridge and freezer cool and freeze on bottom and not on top?

More than likely the cooling coil (evaporator), located in the freezer is blocked with ice due to a failure in the defrost system.

What does the alarm high temp mean?

Could be a failure in the defrost system and the cooling coil (evaporator) is blocked with ice, causing a lack of air flow. If this is not the case, check for a failed condenser fan motor. This motor is located near the compressor.

Kenmore side by side refrigerator model 596.50009100 not cooling.

I would make sure they fan on the bottom that cools the condenser is turning easy way to test is. Put a fan in front of the fridge blowing under it if it starts cooling that is now working right

High temp alarm goes off in the middle of the night even though temp feels fine

Got the manual? The alarm should be able to be just displayed, with the buzzer muted.

I am not sure if I have the same model, but the VIKING fridge that I purchased in Chicago is a stainless steel bottom freezer design that is horrible. I paid alot for it and it looks great on the outside - like a pretty girl that has nothing to say.....The alarm goes off constantly and tonight the freezer wasn't working! This thing is not even 5 years old and my GE fridge in the basement that I use to store drinks for the pool and things that I don't want to spoil is probably 40 years old (I got it from my parents and has NEVER been a problem). What is up VIKING? Where are your engineers??

Fan keeps running

freezer fan runs when freezer calls for cooling
ref fan runs when fridge calls for cooling
condenser fan up top runs with compressor
lower unit condensate fan runs with compressor
fans should not be noisy
control monitors temp and will give alarm if temp rise
please contact viking as your fridge may have a safety recall on door hinges
