Question about Philips DVDR3435V/37 DVD Recorder/VCR

How to Connect Converter to TV, DVD/VCR and a Stereo?

Two years ago my 18-year old 27" Zenith TV lost its audio. I searched the internet and found I might be able to connect it to my stereo using a DVD/VCR player. So, I purchased a Philips DVP315OV/37 at Sears and connected it to my Aiwa stereo and then to my TV. Hooray!!! I got TV sound through the stereo speakers thanks to the Philips. All was well until I had to connect a TV converter to the Zenith. I can't figure out how to connect the TV converter for sound - or if even I could, would I get sound now that we're all HD? My stereo has digital sound. Before I go out and invest in a new HDTV, can my situation be solved? Sure, my Zenith is vintage, but the color picture is amazing and clear, and the wood cabinet is a work of art - would hate to let it go. Thanks much, Sally

Connect converter box to your DVD/VCR player at the ant in. Depending on your location you might need a new ant for UHF.

I would like to be able to connect the Zenith portable DVD player to my TV to watch DVD's on my TV. I have a model number ZPA-314.

If your DVD player and TV have RCA jacks, (3 wires: 2 audio, 1 video) simply patch between the two. If TV does not have RCA jacks, plug the DVD wires (3) into the 'line input 1' on VCR. This way, the VCR is acting as a 'converter' btwn. the DVD player and the TV.

How do I hook up my old VCR to an insignia tv?

You will need a converter to record onto a VCR. I can't remember the when the FCC require VCR to have digital, but I know yours old enough it has an analog tuner. Take your antenna connection to the in on the converter box, then you can take the out from the converter box to the in on the vcr and finally take the out to tv to the tv. To record you have to have the vcr on 3 or 4 and use the converter box to do the channel changing.

Another way would be take the in to the converter and use RCA cables to the line in on the vcr, and line out to the to the tv. This will give you stereo sound.

Connecting a toshiba sd-v392 to an old analog tv

Make sure your menu settings are correct audio outputs may have a setting for digital or analog sound output check that these are set up to analog or stereo output .Also try hooking the sound up direct to a stereo system or amp to be sure you have output! Also you may not be able to get your sound thru the convertor box!! Because the convertor is a reciever of digital signals not a line amp. for audio !! Hope this helps11 AAAAAAAAAAAAAE!!!! Zenith TV has no place for yellow, red, white composite plugs

This TV doesn't have an AV input, so there are no input jacks other than the antenna connector. If you want to connect a device that has only AV outputs (your red, white and yellow plug) you will need an RF converter. This will take the AV signals and convert them to a channel 3 or 4 signal you can tune in on the set.

But since you don't seem interested in spending any money, you'll probably not like to hear that the converter runs around $15 most places. Take heart, there is an alternative. Find a VCR (if you don't have one already) that has an RF output. Many of the the newer DVD/VCR combos only have AV outputs. You're looking for one that has an "out to TV" threaded connector on the back. These units already have an RF converter built in. Connect your AV plugs to the line in jacks on the VCR and switch to that input, and you can use your video game or DVD player through the VCR.

I have separate dvd player and vcr, how do I hook coverter box up

It took some time, but I finally have this figured it out so everything works.

I have the same setup, but I had one additional piece to the puzzle that I had to figure out. I have an older TV and use and antenna, but had to buy an Audio/Video RF Modulator a couple of years ago to use my VCR & DVD player with the old setup.

Get yourself an Audio/Vido RF Modulator (you can pick one up for about $20-30).
Connect the TV to the RF Modulator.
You should have 2 connectors for your antenna. Connect one to the converter "To Ant" and the other to the RF Modulator.
Connect the convertor A/V cable to "IN" on your VCR.
Connect the cable from converter "To TV (RF)" to "UHF/VHF from Ant" on VCR.
Connect the VCR "OUT" cable to the RF Modulator.
Connect DVD A/V cables to A/V input on VCR.

Your TV should be set to Channel 3 (or 4, depending on your setup) and depending on your "input" connections, you should be able to view vidoes from VCR like this and DVD by changing the input (the button should be on your VCR or other remote). For ex. my input changes on my VCR from channels, to L1 & L2. My converter & VCR play on L1 and DVD's play when I change it to L2.

Now, I just have to figure out how to add the converter box to my universal remote. :)
Good luck!

Hooking up a convertor , when i have a vcr, dvd player

You can hook it up through the antennae system. Keep your dvr connected to the tv the way you had it. Hook up your TV rabbit ears antennae to the converter box in the connection on the left side of the box. Then hook up the antennae lead from the converter box to your TV on the right side connector. The only thing I'm wondering is, do you get stereo sound this way and does anyone know how to get it without hooking up the separate audio and video plugs? There aren't enough connections on the tv to hook up both sets.

Connecting my tv and vcr so i can use the vcr remote control

You can always push "03" on a universal remote programmed to work your TV. A better solution is to connect the devices properly. You shouldn't use the tuner inputs for a VCR/DVD player, or you will get a poorer picture and no stereo sound. See the instruction manual for your player and TV. Use a stereo audio/video cable to connect them and select the proper input. The instructions will hopefully clarify this.

Speakers have died?

Probaby the stereo decoder IC went bad or a supply voltage to it is too low or noisy. If it has audio output jacks on the back of the TV, connect it to an external amplifier and see what that sounds like. If it is ok in stereo or mono mode then the amplifier in the TV is bad. This will prove that the stereo decoder is ok.
