How much will it cost to repair a leaking head gasket on a 2000 ford focus se?

Header gaskets are fairly expensive to replace. It depends on the labor rates of the repair facility. I would try to find a local community college that has an automotive degree program. Usually they will charge much less for the fix (to help students learn) than a garage. If that isn't an option I would replace the head gasket and not the whole engine. Of course, if there is other damaged caused by the leaky gasket that is another story. There is a lot of labor involved with replacing a header gasket. I would say anywhere from $500 to $1000 anyway. Hope this helps.

save going back a second or third time

if the header pipe is corroded

Seems like air is seeping in but also leaking oil on the headers could this be cause of the gasket on the valve covers

Yes, a bad gasket would be the cause of the oil leaking out, but has nothing to do with any air getting in. There is no vacuum under the valve cover. Change the valve cover gasket and check the intake manifold and the vacuum hoses coming from it for vacuum leaks (air getting sucked in).

Water is leaking from inlet/outlet area. is that a heat exchanger problem?

If there is a water leak in between the pool/spa plumbing and the inlet/outlet manifold, it just needs a new gasket if it is a plastic manifold, and if it is a cast iron manifold, the 2" threads for inlet and outlet need to be unthreaded, then coated with a pipe sealant (non-teflon) then rethreaded.

If this leak is in between the outer and inner inlet/outlet manifold peices, then a new gasket is needed. The part number for that gasket is: 006713f.

If the leak is coming from inside the cabinet and leaking down the interior or exterior, it could be a heat exchanger issue.

The most likely event is that the o-ring that seals the header manifold is worn and needs to be replaced.
This would take about 30 minutes of labor and an o-ring.

Please vote positively if this has helped.

My pool heater is laeking from the inside. It is about seven years old. Can it be repaired???

when mine leaked it turned out to be the header gaskets which are made of rubber like a hose gasket the are cheap but not so easy to replace unless you feel confident to disassemble the whole heater. I did it with no prior experience, by just pealing back the layers. first remove the top and body sides, then remove the metal housing with the fan (unplug it all first), then you will be looking at the headers and the core. check to see if it is the front or back header that is leaking, then unbolt it and replace the gaskets. it's not as technical as replacing an automotive head gasket... good luck

Shifting up or down, my forward piston backfires.

Popping from the exhausts is common on V stars. It is usually caused by an air leak at the exhaust header. So check this by either check tightening the bolts & using a piece of hose(about 500mm long),one end in your ear, the other at the header(where it bolts to the head). Listen for exhaust leaks. If you hear any replace the header gaskets.A customer of mine very recently fitted 2 gaskets to stop his bike poping after fitting aftermarket pipes. If all this checks OK.Use the hose again to listen for air leaks at the carby inlet manifolds. Air leaks hear cause a lean mixture & can cause backfireing. Also backfireing can be caused by carburettor imbalance.
Hope this helps

Laars Lite spa heater leaking at header after reconnected plumbin

Old laars heaters had only 1.5' Flanges. Newer ones had 2" and 1.5" the difference being the inside hole. so you can get 1.5" gaskets 2' by 1.5" gaskets and 2" gaskets. If you have stanless steel heat sinks wich I think you may have you need to match the right gasket to the pipe size. The gaskets should slide over the pipe easly and snug firmly when you tighten them. Then be sure you tighten each one eavanly. The obstructing tab is there to keep 1.5" sinks from going in to far and interfearing with the by-pass assembly.I hope this helps, I know what I'm talking about and it sounds confuseing to me.If you measure the hole in the flange and the size of the pipe and get gaskets that size you should be fine. Good luck.

I am losing water in my 1997 suburban i have no leaks and no water in the oil but i do seem to have alot of moisture coming out of the exhaust?

This looks like you have a blown header gasket. You probably can smell anti-freeze in the exhaust.
You can verify the problem by have a pressure test of the cylinders. At least one will not hold pressure. The cost of the new gaskets is cheap compared to the labor to install them. Every item with a gasket that is removed to get the header off will require a new gasket.
Valve cover gasket$
Intake manifold gasket$
Exhaust manifold gasket$
Header gasket

Not necessarily.Your spark plugs are located in the top of the motor so the exhaust heat from the leak could not effect them..So no the leak will not cause miss.Something you can check is by looking in the plug wire holes down at the spark plugs and see if theres any moisture in the holes an oil leak in the holes. This is usually the number one thing that makes these cars miss other than just needs a tune up.It is the 5.4L or 4.6L right. If not an it is a 302 or 5.0L it is very possible that the header gasket is the problem. And remember if you fix the gasket you'll need to replace the plug wire that the leaky header gasket was blowing on....
