What tension problem are you having? You can adjust the top thread tension in the tools menu normally on most auto tension models. The bobbin tension is adjusted by the tension spring screw.

How to fix bobbin tension on a juki


first clean bobbin case loosen thread tension screw and clean under tension spring, hi pressure air is the best. its important to clean under tension part because material builds up and does not allow the flat spring to put the proper pressure on the bobbin thread. tighted tension (second screw) accordingly. all thread tension depends on thickness of goods being sewn. the heavier the good the more tension u need on top.

How to replace the tension spring in a bobbin case?


There are two springs on the bobbin case of a rotary hook machine like the 180 and I suspect you're talking about the thread tension spring on the outside of the case - this is held on and the tension adjusted by a two very small screws. The other spring is the brake spring which is a complicated shape spring that sits in the bottom of the case and puts a slight amount of pressure on the bobbin itself. Assuming the thread tension spring has been recovered along with its two screws, it should be fairly self-evident how it fits back onto the bobbin case - the spring lays across the **** in the bobbin case, through which the thread is pulled, so that the tip of the spring with a small right-angle bend just sits down into the aperture where the thread comes out. Now, importantly, the two screws are different sizes ... the one with the smallest head holds the spring onto the bobbin case and is screwed-down firmly through the hole in the flat end of the spring. The larger screw adjusts the thread tesnsion and is screwed through the hole with the slight conical sides. Now the tension should be adjusted to 5g using a proper gauge, but failing that, insert a bobbin loaded with a thread such as Metrosene and thread the bobbin case up. hold the end of the thread so that the bobbin case hangs on the thread - it should not move/unreel itself. If it does, adjust the tension screw (the bigger one) a little bit at a time until it doesn't unwind. The approximately correct tension is obtained when the bobbin will only unreel when you **** the thread upwards gently. You can fine adjust the tension to get the correct balance by ensuring the top tension is set to normal (red line) and adjusting the bobbin tension until the stitch lays properly in the fabric - use different colours top and bottom to check this. Be aware that the bobbin thread tension varies quite alot with only a small rotation of the adjusting screw, so take it is small steps.

the chain or maybe the tensioner from chain. First step is to check the tensioner. Is always located on the line with the cam chain, fixed in 2 bolt in the engine(cilinder). locate it by watching a piece with a bolt in the center, and that piece is fixed on the cilinder with two smaller bolts. When reinstalling, screw the main bolt to retain the spring from tensioner.
If the tensioner is damaged(used) he won't be able to press well on the chain. you see that when you remove it. If you could reinstall it without screwing the bolt, that means that he's used.
Warning.
after reinstalling on the cilinder, fixed in those two bolts, make sure to unscrew the main bolt back. When you unscrew it, the spring is released on the chain to keep it tensioned.

How do I release the tension on a spring loaded hinge?


If there is a cylinder on top of the hinge with small radial holes in it, you need to find a way to twist that cylinder. A special spanner wrench serves this purpose, but you can probably get away with using locking pliers (Visegrips). You will be twisting the cylinder in the direction that INCREASES the tension, so just turn it a littlle bit. That takes the tension off the door hinge (putting it on you instead). Be very careful that the spring doesn't snap free and injure you. There should be a way to then allow part of the spring to retire one rotation in the direction that would reduce the tension.

Replaced the tension spring cords. The plastic portion of the cords had broken. I think this is desined to fail since it is such light plastic.

Fan belt is loose and squealing


belt has a spring loaded tensioner to keep belt tight, if spring is weak belt may slip. only way to fix is to replace tensioner.

  1. REMOVAL
    AIR CONDITIONING BELT

    NOTE: The A/C drive belt self tensioner is NOT a dynamic tensioner. After adjustment the tensioner bracket bolts are tightened. The torsion spring is no longer responsible for tensioning the A/C belt. The torsion spring is only used for initial belt tensioning.
    1. Remove generator/power steering belt to gain access to A/C belt. Refer to GENERATOR/POWER STEERING BELT for procedure.

    1. Loosen BUT DO NOT REMOVE tensioner locking bolt and pivot bolt (Fig. 2).
    2. Insert 1/2" drive breaker bar into square opening on belt tensioner. Rotate tensioner counterclockwise until belt can be removed from pulleys (Fig. 2).
    3. Slowly rotate tensioner clockwise to relieve spring load.
    CLEANING
    Clean all foreign debris from belt pulley grooves. The belt pulleys must be free of oil, grease, and coolants before installing the drive belt.

    INSPECTION
    Belt replacement under any or all of the following conditions is required:
    • Excessive wear
    • Frayed cords
    • Severe glazing
  • Poly-V Belt system may develop minor cracks across the ribbed side (due to reverse bending). These minor cracks are considered normal and acceptable. Parallel cracks are not (Fig. 3).

    NOTE:
    Do not use any type of belt dressing or restorer on Poly-V Belts. INSTALLATION

    AIR CONDITIONING BELT - NEW

    WARNING: DO NOT REMOVE A/C BELT TENSIONER LOCKING BOLT WITHOUT FIRST HOLDING THE TENSIONER WITH A 1/2" DRIVE BREAKER BAR, AS PERSONAL INJURY COULD RESULT.
NOTE: Verify that torsion spring position is in the new belt position before installing a NEW belt (Fig. 4). If torsion spring is not in the new belt position, follow steps 1-7 to change the tensioner spring from the USED belt position to the NEW belt position.
  1. Insert a 1/2" drive breaker bar into the square opening on the tensioner. Hold counterclockwise pressure on tensioner while removing the locking bolt (Fig. 2).
  2. Carefully release spring load of the torsion spring on the tensioner.
  3. Remove pivot bolt, tensioner, and spring from front timing cover.
  4. Insert spring arm into the NEW belt position on the tensioner (Fig. 4).
  5. Install torsion spring, tensioner, and pivot bolt.
  6. Install pivot bolt. Tighten only finger tight, at this time.
  7. Using a 1/2" drive breaker bar, apply counterclockwise pressure until locking bolt can be installed.
    1. Install the NEW belt by rotating the tensioner counterclockwise until the NEW belt can be installed on pulleys. See (Fig. 5) for belt routing.
    2. Release tensioner and remove breaker bar. Belt is automatically adjusted with the tensioner's torsion spring.
    3. Tighten tensioner locking bolt and pivot bolt to 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.) (Fig. 2).
    4. Install generator/power steering belt.
    AIR CONDITIONING BELT - USED

    NOTE: A "used belt" is considered having more than 500 miles of service use. NOTE: Perform steps 1-7 to change the tensioner spring from the NEW belt position, to the USED belt position.
    1. Insert a 1/2" drive breaker bar into the square opening on tensioner. Hold counterclockwise pressure on tensioner, while removing tensioner locking bolt (Fig. 2).
    2. Carefully release the tension of spring on tensioner.
    3. Remove pivot bolt, tensioner, and spring from front cover.
    4. Insert spring into the USED belt position on tensioner bracket (Fig. 4).
    5. Install spring, tensioner bracket, and pivot bolt.
    6. Install pivot bolt. Tighten only finger tight, at this time.
    7. Using a 1/2" drive breaker bar, apply counterclockwise pressure until locking bolt can be installed.
    8. Install the USED belt by rotating tensioner counterclockwise until belt can be installed on pulleys. See (Fig. 5) for belt routing.
    9. Release tensioner and remove breaker bar. Belt is automatically adjusted with the tensioner's torsion spring.
    10. Tighten tensioner locking bolt and pivot bolt to 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.) (Fig. 2).
    11. Install generator/power steering belt.
