That doesn't sound like HP.

I REALLY doubt that they would say that there is water damage without any substantial evidence.

If you didn't spill water on it, maybe somebody else did.

Did you buy the laptop used or open box?

Just because water spilt on it, doesn't mean that the water caused the damage.

You can argue that point...to a certain degree.

There you go. Just build up some information that supports your case, be calm, speak to a senior tech, etc. etc.

They probably have their own internal database which confirms the problem you are experiencing. Just keep at it.

Blank Screen HP 6119 - can't start it anymore

Hi:
I would not give up on contacting HP, because several models, including dv2000, dv6000 and dv9000 had defective motherboards, and the warranty was extended. Some people got free repair, and some just got discounted repair, but don't give up!

There is a known problem with the video card in this machine, certain models are covered by an extended HP warranty.  Symptoms are overheating and finally not starting at all.

I have an HP dv2000 notebook with a fried video chip & mother board (pn# 440777-001). i want to know if any of the other mother boards can be used to replace it such as 440778-001 or any of the other intel...

The best thing to do for that particular model is to call HP tech support..........
They have extended the warranty.....but that too has expired...but that model is a such a lemon that HP has replaced most out of warranty boards.
I think there is only one other board that will fit in that case.....but I dont remember the model.
If you search deep on the net you can find that info.....
I just sent one back and HP was helpful.......but it depends mostly on the warranty date.

Dear Sir,
I would like to ask you if you have purchased an Extended Service Plan cause your laptop has a warranty of 1yr from the day of purchase.... so you need to contact HP and purchase a new Processor and Motherboard.... After that you can purchase 1yr Phone Support and 1 Hardware Support, If you have any problems with the system after that HP will replace the parts for you FOC cause you have the Hardware Support and incase if you are going to buy a new Notebook, plz go ahead and purchase 3 yrs Extended Warranty cause at any point of time if you have a problem HPwill be more than happy to send you parts in replacement for Faulty parts on your notebook

Vertical lines o my desktop

Sounds like the LCD display on the laptop is no good. If you hook up an external monitor, do the lines appear there? If they do, then the problem is with the laptop's video card. If the lines do not appear on the external monitor, then the problem is with the laptop's LCD display and it will need to be replaced.
