Hitachi Excavator- Swing motor gearbox leak ... 10000 hrs that I am thinking the seal on the swing motor reduction gearbox went out. ... but a friend that works on construction equipment said to check the swivel manifold.
go DownloadAManual.net and there is a manual listed for hitachi ex60-3 excavator service manual download
The dealer may be saying that it is a japan machine made under licence in china and is not covered by the hitachi warranty properly and because of that dealers are reluctant to work on them as they are considered inferior product
If you are pumping grease in, the idler should be extending and the track should be getting tighter. If the piston is seized, you should not be able to pump grease into it UNLESS THE SEAL IS BLOWN in which case you can pump all day and the track won't get any tighter. The fix on a blown track adjuster seal requires removing the track to allow the idler and slack adjuster to be removed. Then unbolt the slack adjuster piston assembly and take it to your local heavy duty hydraulic shop for a rebuild.
This is HEAVY work. Take your time, think safety first, and ask for help if you need it. Keep in touch. I've done enough of these that it;s not scarey. What machine are you working on?
Hi I have the same problem,zx16hitatchi mini and I've been told it is track motor needs replacing? Or it could be a seal gone in one side of the spool valve for that track, on the hydraulic pump? Ask a local digger parts dealer for a good repair shop in your area.
Try reconnecting the tracks togeather it may not be easy but my Komatsu toy model excavator has the same problem one of the tracks got jammed while i was playing with it so I'm trying to put them back togeather i also have the PC 450 LC model.. I managed to reconnect some of the tracks togeather but its not easy and be careful not to loose and parts
I have the same problemon my UH025-7 after a year of troubleshooting we finally found it to be the hydraulic pump itself. This pump is a multi stage pump with one part of the pump operating one track and another part of the pump operating the opposing track. Track would start to go then drop dead. If I eased the levers forward it would move a little before one track would drop dead again. My problem is finding a pump. Al Drewett email@example.com
I am assuming this is a Hitachi EX40-2 mini-excavator. Two tests that need to be run. First is the propel motor pressure equal to both propels? Secondly, but possibly more important is to check the slow propel motor for excessive case drain. This would indicate the propel motor is worn out. Find in your hitachi service manual the accepted amount of case drain for that model, disconnect the case drain line from the propel motor and cap the line. Install another hose to the case drain port with the other end in a 5 gallon bucket. Start machine and run propel for 30 seconds. Shut off and check amount of oil in bucket as compared to acceptable amount of leakage from machine spec book. All this does is measure the amount of leakage past the propel motor slippers, which gives an indication of excessive wear tolerances. Replace propel motor if needed.
