the power system has been interfered with,i won't use a complicated language but i need you to try and use an adapter,if it doesn't work it means the transformer has a problem or it has failed completely and it needs replacement
1) Plug your power adaptor to main unit 2) locate "power on" switch and change it to "off"
after doing this steps you will see a red light which means the unit is charging.
note: for some portable player once the charging is complete this red light changes color either orange or green which means the battery already full charge. but it is adviceable to charge battery for atleast 2hrs.
1) Look into purchasing an external rechargeable battery pack for PDVD units (available at Best Buy). It is an external pack that will connect to the players AC port.
2) Prepare for surgery! You will need 6 rechargeable AA batteries, a soldering iron, super glue, and patience.
You'll need to open the battery case and look at the batteries within. Note the direction and polarity of all the batteries and how they are wired/soldered together. You will need to replace all these batteries with the new ones you have purchased. Wire together the new batteries in the exact same order and polarity as the old dead ones. Remove the old ones and replace with the new ones. Solder in where necessary and be sure not to bridge any contacts. Put the case back together with a little super glue on the seam. Replace into the PDVD player when the battery case is dry (or else you may permanently mount the battery case into the player) and set to recharge using the AC pack. if everythign was wired correctly, you should have a charged battery pack in about 1 hour (since most rechargeable batteries come with 3/4 charge in them).
While I don't recomend this second solution, it is plausable for the hobbiest electrician or DIY-er.
do you mean that your dvd player was working god b4 getting the batery back charged or you changed it completly

3- evry two months try to completly discharge it and re charge
4- don't leave the batt, not working for more that 4 months

The batteries are not being charge,it might be bacuse you have the wrong ac adapter, you should get the original to start then let the batterys charge for at least 5 hours or until the red light stopr blinking. You can find more inf.here http://www.insignia-products.com/p-31-insignia-7-169-widescreen-portable-dvd-player.aspx
