I had the same problem. I called Epson and my issue was resolved very quickly. My printer was set on borderless. As soon as I selected with border I was able to select plain paper. Apparently it saturates the edge of plain paper on borderless.

Printer has started to slow down to 6-8 minutes to print one photo

Hi Sally. There could be a number of reasons for that happening but here are the most likely causes and their solution. Check the setting for the type of paper and the quality for the printer to use plus the PPI of the image file itself.
Taking the last first, have you changed any settings in your camera - meaning have you perhaps changed the quality to use from say Medium to High? That could change the PPI /Pixels Per Inch) for the image which means a larger files size for the same size image as previously, which in itself means more information for the printer to process as it prints each photo.
When you select to Print - open the PROPERTIES dialogue area and check the settings - for example were you perhaps using the Text & Image, Photo or Best Photo (may be slightly different - I cannot be more specific as you have not mentioned whick model you have but you should be able to see what I mean). Best Photo will take longer than Photo, which itself will take longer than the T&I setting.
Then there is the paper type. Different choices can change how long it takes - so for the least quality, the Plain Paper setting will be the fastest (and could give a decent print, believe it or not IF better paper is actually used).
To permanently change the Default (the one always used) for the printer, go into Control Panel and find the Printers section, right click on the printer icon and select Properties. You can then set what you would like to use every time as your standard setting (the Default) - which you can change for each print job at the time of printing, using the printers Properties facility - which then only applies for that time as the printer, for all future work, will revert back to the Default - so you would change per print job if you have different requirements - for example - even the normal size paper, which is generally always defaulted from installation to A4.
Hope those give you some areas to explore to see where your change has occurred - as it will be due some change along the line - the printer will not, of its own accord, go slower - there has to be a reason for that and it is most likely one or more of the settings shown above.

How to change from photo to plain paper on settings on Epson SX445W

This question has not been answered. Has anyone figured out how to change the 'Paper Type" setting in the copy menu from photo paper to normal paper? Also how do I change the quality setting from "standard quality" to draft etc.

Photos in Mac's iPhoto will not print from the photo paper tray. They always print on paper in the main paper tray (this is on an HP C7280 printer). I had an HP Photosmart 8250 and it was the same with...

This is an older post, but it appeared to be unanswered. In iPhoto once a photo is selected, you hit "Print" at the bottom right. A preview screen with options comes up. Once the correct options there are chosen, you need to hit print again - but it does not print yet. Instead a second "Print" window opens. In the middle of this window there is an "iPhoto" button with arrow buttons on the right. The arrow buttons open a drop down menu. Choose "Paper/Paper Quality" from that menu, and it will give you a button for "Source." The arrow buttons on the right of the "Source" button allow you to choose "Photo Tray."
Once it's changed, you don't need to redo it each time you print an additional photo, since iPhoto reverts to "Last Used Settings." But as a shortcut for future sessions, you can save these settings using the "Preset" button located at the top of the second "Print" window (the window where the "iPhoto" button is located). I used "Photo Tray" in the description so it would be obvious, since I don't print pictures every day.

Cannot clean Canon i960

The print driver might not be sending the correct color profile for photo paper. Check that your selection of the paper type "sticks", that is, that it doesn't revert to plain paper when you click on the print button.
If the print dialog is not working properly, then please get in touch with Canon's tech support to resolve this.

Can't change image quality

The problem is that only "fine photo pro" is available when the paper selected is photo paper. Change source to the sheet feeder, hit the "Paper" button and then select normal paper. You'll then be able to change the quality to normal.
