If your saying it wont recover from idle down mode back to full speed , this might be the IR fuel pump/regulator problem (a pressure gauge will need to be added to verify this ) , if so save your money go with an aftermarket pump it'll last longer

SOURCE: Air Compressor, low pressure

does the compressor keep running all the time but never gets above 40 or does it turn off at 40?
if it is turning off at 40 I would try using another gauge just to be sure it is 40psi, and if that is the case then you probably have a faulty pressure switch, if the compressor is constantly runnign but won't get past the 40psi then you may have a worn out compressor, check the oil for either a low level or if the oil is dirty, if it is you may just need to drain and refill but if that doesn't fix the issue then you will need to rebuild the compressor

SOURCE: Ingersoll rand compressor oil leak (Model DD2T2, 4.5 Gal.)

The brass fitting that goes into my DD2T2 seems to have a hole in it and it looks impossible to remove without ruining a major gasket due to the close tolerance in replacing the fitting. Am I missing something?

SOURCE: The compressor starts and stops after a short

More than likely it is a problem with the inlet control, commonly I have found wear in the throttle linkage can cause this or a faulty sump pressure sensor that is out of calibration.

Dewalt Emglo 55168 motor starts to slow down as pressure builds to about 30 PSI. It really starts to labor. Any thoughts as to what could be causing the motor to strain and slow?

Most likely in tank check valve is leaking or belt is slipping. Belt tension easy to check, should not deflect with thumb pressure. Check valve should not let air escape out of tank. Easy to check. Run compressor till pressure builds to around 50 psi. Then unplug machine from power outlet. Listen for air leaking out of tank. In bad cases, air will actually leak out of intake filter. Replace check valve as needed. Good luck

JUST REPLACED CARB ON MY 1992 CHEVY SILVERADO WITH A 4.3 LITER. NOW IT STARTS AND RUNS FINE UNTIL IT WARMS UP THEN DIES AND WONT START FOR 30 MIN

How many rpm's is it running at when you first start it up and it is running on the choke? Does it gradually start to idle back and then start to die r does it do it all of a sudden and dies?

When running with the choke on, it is on the high idle circuit of the carb, as it warms up the idle should slow down and then idle in the 800 rpm range in Park, 650 in Drive. This will be the low idle circuit range. This transition inside the carb will cover an idle air bleed hole in the venturi of the carb and lean out the mixture. If you notice that the carb smells gassy and black rich unburnt gases are coming from the tailpipe, the problem is located within the carb and requires a carb tech to do a rebuild of the carb. You could try a good carb cleaner like Lucas by putting it into the gas tank, in case you just got a bad tank of gas, but that is just a bandaid for a more deeply rooted problem. Get the carb rebuilt?

If in the past your system can build-up pressure up to 40 psi even if the supply valve is open and water is being used in your house, then your pump impeller maybe already worn out that's why its pumping capacity was reduced.

no, Its sounds like you have a receiver tank check valve bad. This valve is designed to hold pressure in the tank . there should be a line on the side of the check valve that goes to the pressure switch. This allows air trapped from the top of the check valve to the compressor to escape so when the compressor starts it does not have to start against pressure in the system. Loosen the line at the check valve or the pressure switch. if it blows until the unit starts or drains the receiver tank if not powered up replace the receiver tank check valve.

Will only build air to 35 lb .keeps running but no air above 35lb

Most likely it is a leaking valve. If ether the intake or exhaust valve, but not both, leak back pressure will be low. These small compressors usually use reed valves. Try and remove the head, and check that the reeds are not bent up, and that the seat it seals against is not cut. If the reads are bent you can sometimes flip them over. You may be able to get new reads from Sears if they are bent or broken.

Run the compressor until there is about 75 psi in the tank and turn it off at the pressure switch. Remove the black bleeder line from the pressure switch:
1. If absolutely no air comes out of the line you may have a bad start capacitor on the motor. Have it tested at an electrical or refrigeration shop or just replace it to see if it takes care of your problem.
2. If you get a short blast (five or so seconds) of air then nothing your pressure switch isn't letting the head pressure bleed off after the motor shuts off. This pressure has to be relieved or the motor has to fight the tank pressure when it tries to restart. Reconnect the bleed off line and turn the motor back on. If it starts normally, replace the pressure switch. If it struggles or won't start it is more indicative of a bad start capacitor.
3. If you get constant air flow from the bleed line the problem is with your tank check valve. This causes the same problem as above. Replace the check valve.

My 1 hp. 12 gal. air compressor is not building air pressure the motor runs the pressure won't go above 20 lb.

It could be that the input air filter is badly clogged. I might more likely be that the Non-return valve on the air tank input is not sealing properly and not allowing the tank to build up pressure. This valve is at the end of the main pipe runs between the compressor and tank. It could also mean (less likely) that the poppet valves inside the compressor cylinder head are not sealing properly. Other faults could be worn rings on the compressor pistons or a bad seal between the compressor cylinder head and block.

To check the Non return valve allow compressor to build up some pressure and then loosen union nut on Non return valve. There should be some air released at first but should stop if valve is ok. If leaking remove valve and check for dirt and clean. If valve still leaks replacement is the only fix.

Never assume anything; check your pressure guage to make sure it is reading correctly. If a guage gets faulty, it could be showing less pressure than before, but everything else is the same, therefore the pressure is the same as always but the guage says different. If guage is good and 100 lb shows just as there is 100 lb in the tank, then maybe your electric line is not sufficient capacity and the motor starts to labor because it is pulling more energy than the line can produce and therefore everything heats up and the breaker pops. Have you moved the compressor or had a need to change the electric line and maybe it is too long or toosmall to handle what it did in the past ? Or, maybe the motor windings are old and getting deteriorated, thus allowing the motor to lose power and without the extra power to fight the pressure as it builds, the motor and line strain to work, and the breaker pops. Or, maybe the inlet and outlet valves on the head are weak and cannot hold the pressure in check as it builds in the tank thereby forcing the motor to work even harder against the pressure it already built-up; in this case, the head needs to be removed and new valves and springs replaced. Most compressor companies offer a valve kit just for this purpose. Goodluck, Macgvior

how do you know one tank drops to zero unless you have a pressure gauge on both tanks sounds unlikely unless you are looking at the gauge on the pressure regulator

Husky Q26 will not build pressure. Where do I buy parts?

First check the check valve and also if it has an unloader valve make sure it is closing.

The main check valve is often right where the air goes into the tank. The unloader can be integral to the pressure switch or on the compressor.
