SOURCE: shift keys don't work. Both shift works for some

This is probably due to a mismatch between the keyboard hardware (what is written on the keys) and the keyboard settings. For example if the keyboard is standard QWERTY US English and the setting is for French, pressing some keys will give the wrong output on the screen. You can correct this in the Control Panel / Regional Settings, Language settings (depending on your operating system). For your main language, say it is English, choose the appropriate keyboard, OK/Save etc. Good luck.

The Alcatel OT-606 is a wonderful unit and with the full QWERTY key it will solve your problem of texting with the predictive texting turned off what you press is what you get on the screen and no letters will turn. Only you have to adjust to the shift keys and the punctuations.
Hope this solution is helpful?
Compliments of the season.

SHIFT KEYS NOT WORKING PROPERLY

Please try to deactivate the Fn (function) key. That will help you get rid of your problem. Press Fn key + Numlock key once and try again. You can also try pressing the Fn key once and type letters in any word processor program with the key combination everytime you press the Fn key once. E.g. open the notepad, press Fn once and after that press ) with Shift.

If you have problem, let me know.

Good luck.

My shift key is not working properly in my Keyboarding online class. It gives me an error everytime I try to key in a capital letter. i have changed keyboards and it still does the same thing.

When you say it gives you an error, do you mean an actual error message, or the lower-case letter?

I have no idea what your experience is, so I'm asking if you know the difference between the Caps Lock key and the Shift key? The Shift key has to be held down while pressing the other key, eg h key to get H.

Pressing the Caps Lock key locks into upper-case, SO YOU GET A LINE LIKE THIS until you press it again.

When i press the letters numbers come up

Your keyboard has a button which permits you to use some of the letters keys as a numeric keypad. It works like a shift lock key and probably has a light incorporated with it as a shift lock key does. In fact it may be labeled "Num. Lock".

Cannot use letters of my laptop unless use fn key but not capital

You need to press the NumLock key to get the keyboard to get back to alphanumeric - it has a symbol of a lock with a number 1 on it. A LED should also go out/icon in your tool tray should disappear as well.

I cant get my 'at' key to work.

Try using the other shift key. If that works, then you most likely have a dirty or defective keyboard.
Does the number 2 work? Does your shift key product uppercase letters (does it work with other keys?)
If you are having problems with a flaky keyboard, it's pretty inexpensive to replace it and reduce your stress.
