Does the stick return to the center position when not in use or is it loose? If it won't return to the center position, then the stick will most likely need to be replaced. The PSP has to come apart for you to replace the stick. As for the 2 screws being loose? You would have to more permanently put them in, but then you may not be able to get them back out.

It is also possible that dirt/dust has gotten into the joystick area and is causing problems.

To calibrate your analog stick, go to the system information screen on your psp, and move your analog stick around in a circle as far out as possible.

Drifting ananlog stick and umd disk reading problems

A drifting analog stick is usually the result of a loose screw on the PSP shell.
If you flip your PSP over so you are looking at the back of it, there will be two screws on the side where the analog stick is, try tightening both of those screws (specifically the bottom one) with a small screw driver. If the problem persists, you can try to replace the analog stick yourself if the warranty has expired. If your warranty is still valid, you can send your PSP to Sony and they will repair it for you.
The UMD drive on the other hand, may be the result of dirty laser, or failing drive. Depending on the age of the PSP, you may be out of luck. The only option, aside from replacing the drive (which is expensive, and well, not worth your trouble) is to jailbreak your PSP to be able to play games from the memory stick. While downloading games that you do not own is illegal, backing up the games you own is ok.

My analog move on it"s owne

This is usually the result of a loose screw on the back of the PSP behind the analog stick, or dust on the analog stick receiver itself. If it is an older PSP, you can try to open it up and clean the analog stick yourself (after tightening the two screws behind the analog stick, of course) but if your PSP is newer, I wouldn't recommend it, because any attempts to open the PSP will VOID YOUR WARRANTY (if you still have one).
BE CERTAIN YOUR PSP WARRANTY IS NO GOOD BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO TAKE IT APART YOURSELF AS YOU WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY.

The analog works fine in the options menu but when

Try calibrating your PSPs analog stick, here's how: 1. Go to Settings>System Settings 2. With the System Information screen displayed, rotate your analog stick in a circular motion (clockwise and counter clockwise). This will adjust the analog stick's range of motion. 3. Exit the Settings then run your game and test the analog stick. (it should be working well by now)
I hope this helps.

Psp moving by itself

Hey, looks like your PSP may have one of these two problems. There are 2 screws on the backside of the PSP System on the side of the analog stick. If either of the screw is loose then the analog stick will move by itself.
Second problem is the Analog Stick itself has been damaged. You can replace these very easily if you are good with tools and electronics.
