Change the settings
in menu select applications --> select options --> select keyboard/screen --> change resolution sensitivity (vertical and horizontal) to 100% --> select menu --> select save

Did it get wet at all? If so there is an area under the track ball that goes bad if it get's wet. Cleaning that area with a brush can sometime get it up and running again. If you're out of warranty try to remove the trackball and clean the area below it if necessary. There is a Blackberry Repair Guide that shows how to open a Blackberry and remove the track ball yourself. There are also third party blackberry repair services that will do this for you.
