For the Start menu, I assume you're talking about the taskbar that appears on the bottom of the screen. Press the Windows button on the keyboard (usually located between the Ctrl and Alt button on the left hand side).Right-click on the Start button. Click on the Taskbar tab and check the box that says "Lock the taskbar". Your taskbar should return to your desktop.

Wallpaper (desktop image)

In XP:
Right click on a blank space anywhere on the desktop. Click on graphics properties. You should see a window with your Wallpaper previewed in the top window. Click in the Settings. There should be a setting for "Stretch". Select Stretch and your desktop should return to normal.

In Vista: Right click on a blank space on the desktop, click personalize/display settings/advanced settings Click on your graphics card if available or graphics properties. You're looking for Aspect Ratio options From here you will see a setting with 2 options

  1. Maintain aspect ratio
  2. Full screen (no border)
Depending on your graphics card, this process may differ slightly, but the setting you need is Aspect Ratio

I hope this answers your questions. Best of luck.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

The screen darkens slightly, then after 5-10 seconds, the monitor goes black. I have to turn in off, then on again, for the screen to re-light, but it consistently goes black until I re-start my computer....

hi this sounds like the monitor is going into sleep mode, what is happening is that if it is not used for a bit, and there is no screen saver, the monitor will shut itself down, to change this, go to control panel, then power options, double click that, in the menu you will see at the bottom, turn off monitor, turn off hard disks, what you need to do is click the arrow to the left on that menu and choose never at the bottom of the list, you can also do this for the hard drive if you need to do so, then just save changes, and hopefully that should be cured...hope that helps

Monitor black screen

Your first step in troubleshooting this problem is to plug in another monitor to your computer. If you are having the same problem it is related to your computer. If the second monitor works fine then your original monitor is shot.

Blank Screen..Will not power off

The flash light test only works with lcd monitor as they have back lights. Double check the connections again, also, if you can borrow a monitor try it on your pc, it may be your graphics driver needs to be uninstalled and re-installed, but you will need a monitor to see.
