Philips Electronics 46PFL3908 46 sound distortion

Intermittently the sounds starts to distort after a minute or two it clears up. This started after I plugged in an RCA plug to check out some external speakers. They did not work but the distortion started after this.

After about 30-60 minutes TV starts to hum and picture gets distorted, could this be the color wheel...???

Sounds like a sync problem due to color wheel speed. clean and lubricate color wheel motor with tiny amount of Z-Max lubricant (liquid Buckey balls, available at Wal-Mart), on each bearing. make sure wheel is free-wheeling and turns easily. Should cure problem. If the color wheel is in good shape, there is a power supply problem, which may be due to dried out electrolytic capacitors or a regulator that's failing. Troubleshooting or controller board replacement may be needed. Regards.

I have a single 15" sub woofer in a box it was

Simply put, burned voice coil. Either too much power can do this or not enough power with distortion. solution- if the sound is clear then its too much power- turn the amp down. If the sound is distorted and raspy- its not enough power and your getting distortion-get bigger amp.

At start up, distorted / dble vision fuzzy. Screen will go black with sound. Turn off & on to get very poor distorted picture. After 15 - 20 minutes clears up.

Hello,

The reason your television is having distorted vision and screen going black with sound is because there is a problem inside the unit. This problem could be caused by either a bad lamp or a faulty t-com board.

My best bet is the lamp, because it is when the lamp start developing any fault it begins the distorted screen thing and coming up black.

What you hsve to do is to get a replacement lamp, open up the television and replace the lamp with a new one, after doing that your television will be in good condition once again.

Take care and good luck

My hot rod deluxe has internal distortion problems.

There are many components in the system. Electrolytic capacitors are most suspect. C49, C50, C45, C51

There are many others but these are top suspects. You MAY be able to detect a change by cooling these components with circuit cooler spray.

ALSO check the +/- 16 volt power sources in the unit.

I have logitech x220 speaker set up, but I am getting intermittent distortion. Which renders them useless for playing music, they even distort computer warning noises! I have changed from an integral sound...

actually the harddrive could also be the problem, because when you do have a problem with your HDD your computer tend to intermittently hangup or freezes that causes the distort effect on the sound system. Also you could try using your speaker on a different computer or plug it on an mp3 player so that you could eliminate the factor that your speaker has the problem and if not try using another HDD for your computer or worst case scenarion would be changing the motherboard of your computer.

Have dropped my laptop and the sound is intermittently slow and heavily distorted

You'll need to replace the motherboard, the computer does not have a separate sound card. Very expensive to fix unless you can do the work yourself.

I have distortion of playing tapes.

Degraded tape, dirty heads (clean with acetone and Q tip but don't get on plastic), dry coupling capacitors. This assumes that the distortion that you refer to is dirty or fuzzy sounding audio.
If a new tape, recorded and played back, sounds ok then your electronics are in good shape. That means your tapes are junk. If cleaning heads takes care of it, well that's pretty obvious. If your capacitors are dried out you will need to bring it in to a repair shop.
