Question about Astar Televison & Video
I have a astar mp 32hb that iwas using as my desktop monitor. I want to use this as my tv now. The cable in my room has a cable line that u would normally plug into the back of the TV. The astar doesnt have this connector. how do i use the astar with my cable plug? the plug im talking about is like the ANT IN plug where u plug it in then twist to tighten it. I notice most new tv doesnt have this anymore only the old tv does.

You need to have a licensed antenna repairer out to fix your antenna. Just because your old tv is receiving enough signal to JUST get a picture doesn't mean your new tv will, A new tv doesn't mean you will get a perfect picture if your antenna is dodgy

did you check the power supply capacitors, all the models of astar had this problem. You can tell the bad ones because they are puffed up on top. This fixed my problem and many other peoples. They used cheap parts so cheap results, they are out of business

Yes you will get a better picture quality out of a cable box if you get an HD cable box.
The reason you are getting the diminished picture is due to the signal you are feeding the TV is an analog signal. The newer HD TV's are made for digital TV and this older technology shows all its flaws on this type of TV.
When you get the new box understand that the same channels you are getting plugged directly into the tv are still going to have some grainy look to them but the good thing is that a lot of them are starting to be rebroadcast on HD channels and that is where your new toy will truly shine.
Enjoy your new TV...

Yes you can get a replacement part, but you will need a new main board. The socket where the cable line attaches is soldered to the main board. It can be re-soldered as long as it's just detached from the main board, or if it's broken a decent TV repair shop could probably get a new socket and solder it on for you. You can see in the image below where all the sockets are attached to the board:
If it's broken or you can't get someone to repair re-solder it, This is the part you will need:
Hope this helps.
