Lens stuck out on camera

I took the camera out of its case and the lens was out all the way and the camera was off.  I turn the camera on and it shuts itself off.  The lens won't go back in.

Re: Lens stuck out on camera

Sounds like the camera was either dropped or hit with the lens extended.

I had this problem and opened the camera myself and was able to realign the lens. It is not easy to play with the lens but if you have the time it is possible. Just be careful about not losing the screws or touching components unless you have a ground strap to prevent static electricity from damagin the circuits.

My daughter dropped our A520. The power comes on for a second and then shuts down. The lens is stuck open. Is this worth fixing?

I had this problem once. The lens was stuck open and the power would not go on. I took out the storage card and the lens retracted.

My camera turns on then beeps 3 times then shuts off is it broken or is there a reset button?

The three beeps mean that the lens motor is unable to extend the lens assembly.
This could be due to a low battery situation, but the most likely cause is the lens drive train stuck or jammed. You'll find generic instructions on solving some cases of jamming here.

Unfortunately, more serious cases (due to falls, shocks, and most of all, the camera being turned on while some resistance prevents the lens from extending: e.g., if the camera accidentally turns on while in a pocket) require the repair shop.

Turns on but turns right back off

It might be a lense problem. Dirt and things get stuck in the lense real easily. hold the lense while you tuen it on and when it turns off hold the lens out.. wiggle it gently while turning it upside down... tap it gently upside down.... or blow int he lens to try and get the dirt disloged.

Lens error

The lens has probably got something in the retraction mechanism that is stopping it retracting. This can be something as simple as sand or grit or as a result of a drop or knock. In most cases the camera will need to be stripped apart to remove the lens assy before it can be repaired. This is best left to a professional camera repair shop.

It suddenly crashed so I took the battery out. Now it does nothing except beep when I turn it on and the screen stays black! Help!!!1

The lens is stuck. Switch on and tap the edge of the camera against your hand quite sharply. The lens should eventually pop out and screen operate as normal. Make sure lens casing is totally clean before switching off.

Lens stuck out, camera won't switch on, Canon G9

I have fixed my g9 twice with the lens problem. 1st time I dropped the camera on asphalt lens closed. Turned on, lens stuck and not forcusing or retracting. Solution was to press lens against a door frame and push as I turned off the worked. The next time, the lens was extended and would not retract I had to place the camera on its back on a book while I used a small block of wood and a small hammer. It worked camera is working fine. After both cases, it took about 5 shots to calibrate the auto focus.

Kodak Easy Share Z1275 stuck lens

I have a Kodak 1275. Green light would go on the off and lens was stuck open. Now for solution that worked for me. Get a can of compressed air, like what you use for computer keyboards. Blow the compressed air all around your stuck open lens, not to fast and switch directions of where you blow air around stuck opened lens. Make sure batteries are fresh and fully charged. Tap your camera against the palm of your hand twice, not to hard or you may damage instead of jarring lens lose. Next lay your camera on a table lens facing up, push power button on so camera will try to auto focus and lens should reseat itself and lens should move freely. It doesn`t have to look dirty or dusty, little tiny particles can cause the lens to get stuck and shut off fast because it is a safety feature. If this does not work try plugging your camera into computer so the lcd screen does not try to go on , thus giving even more power to get your lens moving . Do not try to force it closed by pushing or twisting with your hand or you may cause damage that will cost as much as the camera to fix.
