Press and hold the "Fn," or function, key on your EEE PC-1000's keyboard.

Press "F3" while holding "Fn" to lower the brightness on your monitor.

The brightness on your computer decreases each time "F3" is pressed.

Press "F4" while holding "Fn" to increase the brightness on your monitor.

Each time "F4" is pressed, the brightness increases.

Press "F8" while holding "Fn" to decrease the volume from your EEE PC's speakers.

Each time "F8" is pressed, the volume decreases.

Press "F9" while holding "Fn" to increase the volume from your EEE PC's speakers.

Each time "F9" is pressed, the volume increases.

Press the "Ins" key while holding "Fn" to take a screen shot, or make a copy of what is currently on the computer screen.

You have to Press and Hold the FN function key at the lower left portion of your keyboard then hit the volume or brightness keys. Notice that the volume and brightness keys are the same color as the FN function key. That means you have to press and hold the FN key while you hit the volume or brightness key.

F1 through F12 are called function keys because they execute programmed functions when pressed. Used in combination with the Fn key, keys marked with icons execute specific functions on the computer. The function executed by individual keys depends on the software you are using.





1. Sound Mute: Pressing Fn + ESC in a windows environment turns sound on or off. Press Fn + Enter to simulate Enter or the enhanced keyboard's numeric keypad. 2. Instant security: Press Fn + F1 to blank the screen to prevent others from accessing your data. To restore the screen and original setting, press any key or press the Touch Pad. 3. You should be able to use the "FN" key and "F5" key, press and hold the "Fn" key then while holding that key, press the "F5" key to decrease the brightness. Use the same(Fn) key and "F6" to increase the brightness.
