You need to plug the GPU into the PSU, and/or you need a bigger PSU.

No bootup when installing a Geforce 6200 PCI-e

Check how card is attached to PCIx16 port right?

It should be that one. Check connections, this problem is usually caused by not propperly attached card ,or outdated version of bios.

Have a Dell 531 Inspiron 4400+ Desktop with a Nvidia GEForce 6150SE. Would like to upgrade graphics card???

hello, according to wiki your Dell 531 is same as 530 except for the nvidia chipset.
ATI Radeon HD 4670 is recommended for this system without adding too much of extra burdun on the power supply.
rest also depends on how much are you looking to invest in a graphic card. below is link for newegg's graphic section:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=40000048&Description=pci%20express%20video%20card&name=Desktop%20Graphics%20%2f%20Video%20Cards

after you have the card follow this sequence(unless ofcourse you know excatly what to do)
1 go in BIOS and change graphic card priority from onboard first to PCI express.
2. turn off system install the new card, switch the vga/dvi cable to the new card and startup the system.
3. upgrade drivers with provided cd.

let me know if you have any questions.
good luck

Will a EVGA GeForce 6200 work on an IBM think

The EVGA is nterfacePCI 2.1
The Lenovo 8171 has two PCI 2.2 slots
  • Slot 1: half length, 1 lane PCI Express (graphics)
  • Slot 2: full height, half length, 32-bit PCI 2.2 (5v)
I would say yes to this.

Want to disable onboard graphics to install and use pci vga card

During the initial boot sequence (as soon as you turn your PC on), try pressing <DEL> button (or F2 or F10 - you will see info on the bottom of the screen stating something like "Press _____ (del, F2, F10) to go to Setup..."

This will take you to BIOS, main setup panel for your PC.
There you can find and option for switching your main GFX card.
Options will be something like: onboard, pci, agp. You should choose
PCI.

Try doing this after you insert your new PCI gfx in your computer.

Good luck,

Replacing a Graphics card: Presently a GeForce 420 (64mb) upgrading to GeFroce 6200 (256mb). System is a Dell Dimesion 8200 w/Windows XP at 2GB with 100+ GB free. Will the card work? Tim

If the type of card is the same, and will fit into the slot, such as AGP or PCI or PCIe, then it wil work after you install the new video card drier for your operating system of windows.

I included the link for buying the XFX PCI graphics card in ine of my post. (I'll list it again here). http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3735736&CatId=1603

I can't say if the XFX card would be easily found at a local PC store or not. Places like BestBuy, if they have that card would charge more than what is listed on the internet. Keep in mind PCI video cards are not in demand, so their price may infact go up. I did a google search for, XFX GeForce 6200 Video Card - 512MB DDR2. You can run a search you're self.

Pci-e question

Hi

I am afraid Dell OptiPlex GX260 has no support for PCI-e.

You can however install a half-length AGP (66MHz) graphics card.

More info @ http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx260/en/ug/index.htm
