Question about Audio Players & Recorders
The needle fell of and I put it back on and put back records that fell out. everything works as it should but the sound only comes out faintly in the left top speaker. sometimes there is a hum in right top speaker. I am in New Zealand and cannot find anyone to look at it. all help appreciated.
Well, in addition to all the fine suggestions that are here, I would like to add the simple and easy things that may have happened during the move.
IF YOU ARE NOT GETTING A LOUD POP WHEN THE MACHINE IS POWERED ON.......
1) Make sure that the wires on the terminals below are still connected to the screws. There is one ground and one each for left and right. The lower the tap the lower the (max) volume of the jukebox. If they are not connected there will be no sound.
There is a jumpers on the terminal strip where the volume control connects. Make sure that these connections are correct and tight. Also make sure that the jumpers did not fall off.
If you are getting the loud pop in the speakers when the power is turned on .....
Check the plug on the side of the mechanism, just below the back of the tone are.(looks like a little tube socket) Check to see that it is connected to the mech and the CORRECT PLACE on theI have a Rowe R80 jukebox and after moving it it h - bf77613e-82a3-4e37-b8fe-cc80f4d4dbcb.jpghis end in the wrong place.
Check all all your connections against the pic.
I hope this was helpful.

Is there a loud pop when you plug in the box, if so the amp is probably fine. Since this happened when moving the box there are a couple of possibilities. 1. Wires pulled off the cartridge. 2. Bad connection from amp to tone arm, usually at the plug on the left side of the mechanism. Try the plug first then look for wires off the cartridge. There should be three wires going to the cartridge 2 signal line and one ground that is common to both sides. The grounds go to the posts marked lg and rg. The right and left do not really have to be on the right posts although it will change which speakers each channel drives. Originally there were connectors that slide onto the cartridge posts. If they are still there you should try to reuse them, if not you will have to solder directly to the cartridge. THIS IS DELICATE WORK! Anyway one of these should fix your problem. Good luck.

SOURCE: rowe r92 sound problem
Moving the wire indicates the speakers are OK. Try reversing the 3 pin plug from the cartridge. If the problem stays on the same channel, it is probably a preamp board issue. If the problem switches channels, you have a bad wire to the cartridge or a bad cartridge.

I don't have a manual handy but it could be a few things, you may need to reinitialize the jukebox, maybe there is a dirty wiper or the control module may be on its way out. I would try to locate a repair manual for it, there might be an old vending company in your area with one.
