Question about Yamaha RX-797 Receiver
There is no smoking gun inside the unit, probably just a protection mode , how to get out of it?!?1!?

isn't that nice of them to just list the yamaha code for CD players? I sent yamaha an email about it. we'll see what they say...
have you checked out the new universal remotes that are out now?

Press and hold "DTV" then, while holding doen DTV, press power and hold for three seconds. Release both buttons and enter your code. The front panel of the receiver will say "remote setup ok" or "NG" (no good) That being said; while you are in the process of finger acrobatics! make sure your remote is pointing in the general direction of the receiver. Yes, it's a pain, however, once your done, the Yamaha remote is a champ! Hope this helps.

I don't know why the comment from Yamaha about Tape Monitor killing digital inputs is relevant.
According to the manal I downloaded, THIS stereo receiver doesn't have digital inputs.
As to using 901's and 301's...
You will need a separate Power Amp for either the 901's or the 301's. Sorry, but you can't share the amp with the Active-Equalized signal and non-901's.
I use 901's and 301's in MY 7.1 rig with a separate amp for the 901 and NOT using a Tape Monitor, but a preamp out feed for the front channels.

SOURCE: How do you reset the
Can you be a little more specific about what the fault is and what you are trying to do? Is the machine constantly powering off?
The reset functions are in the ADVANCED SETUP menu which can be accessed by holding down the STRAIGHT button while you turn the power on.
If you can give more specific details about the problem, it will be easier to determine what might need to be reset - rather than resetting the whole unit.
