Press and hold "DTV" then, while holding doen DTV, press power and hold for three seconds. Release both buttons and enter your code. The front panel of the receiver will say "remote setup ok" or "NG" (no good) That being said; while you are in the process of finger acrobatics! make sure your remote is pointing in the general direction of the receiver. SOURCE: want to use Yamaha rx-797 reciever with bose 901

I don't know why the comment from Yamaha about Tape Monitor killing digital inputs is relevant.

According to the manal I downloaded, THIS stereo receiver doesn't have digital inputs.

As to using 901's and 301's...

You will need a separate Power Amp for either the 901's or the 301's. Sorry, but you can't share the amp with the Active-Equalized signal and non-901's.

I use 901's and 301's in MY 7.1 rig with a separate amp for the 901 and NOT using a Tape Monitor, but a preamp out feed for the front channels.

Hi,

Can you be a little more specific about what the fault is and what you are trying to do? Is the machine constantly powering off?

The reset functions are in the ADVANCED SETUP menu which can be accessed by holding down the STRAIGHT button while you turn the power on.

If you can give more specific details about the problem, it will be easier to determine what might need to be reset - rather than resetting the whole unit.

Regards,

Hi;my Yamaha receiver RX-V 373 will not turn on. No power. No display. It may be that the unit went into protection mode. Can anyone there, help me, restart my unit back to factory condition?

If you have power it should click before protection mode and have a light showing it's in protection mode.
After the transformer there's some resistors that have failed if it's in protection mode normally it's one or two that have failed, you can get the reading of what they should be by testing them

Greetings, my rx v663 will not power up no lights not anything. What could be my problem?

These amplifiers have a fuse link inside of the main transformer. If you want to, you can open the unit up and see if you have the main power into the transformer. Then see if you have any voltage on the secondary of the transformer, if not then the internal fuse has opened (usually due to heat). The tranformer will need to be replaced. Yamaha will not sell parts to consumers, so you may need to take it to a local repair shop for repairs.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.
If you need further assistance please comment to this post and I will try to help you further.

Yamaha receiver problems

If you're using the same turntable on both I'd say you see the smoking gun. I doubt it actually killed anything. Perhaps the cartridge wiring or connections on the TT are flaky. What type of TT is it?

Was it working normally before all of this?

Display panel does not light; sound is ok

It may not need repair. if you have it hooked up to a TV, by video, s-video, or component. Press the menu button on the remote and you can see the main menu of the unit on the TV. Navigate the menu up/down/left/right/enter until you get to "display". You should be able to turn the display of the receiver on/off. If you don't have the manual. http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/Documents/YEC/Stereo_Receivers/Manual/RX-797_e_U_p.pdf That's the PDF from Yamaha. I haven't used this particular unit, but that's the way it's done on all the other series. ie. RX-V or RX-Z. Hope this helps
