Sounds like a blown internal fuse. unless you are savvy with a soldering iron you'll need to take it to a TV repair man. i assume its out of its warranty period?

Testimonial: "I believe it is out of warranty. We need to see if we ever got the extended, which I am pretty sure we didn't. Where can I locate the fuse on the TV? I am a little handy. If I am unable what does is the average cost to repair?"

how old is it? even without extended wawrranty some products are still covered under consumer protection despite what the retailer might say.

bascially carefully take the rear panel off the tv and fuses will be easily spotted if blown - look for the black burnt looking one. could be a capaciter also which are obvious as they will be bulging and look mishappen comapred to a ok one. google image search LCD TV bulging capacitor and you'll get a quick answer

I smell something burning then the tv just went off

Unplug the tv and take it to a repair shop. Obviously if you smelled something burning, then you shouldn't leave it connected.

MAGNAVOX TV BURNING SMELL TV WENT POP AND WENT OFF

Well that pop had something to do with the power components inside the TV frying. I would have to say there is nothing you can do to repair it as its dangerous to work on such things.
I wouln't waste my time bringing it to a repair shop they will probably tell you to just buy a new one.

Tv does not come on

Those are not good signs. The TV needs repair. I would unplug it and not turn it on again. If the TV is still fairly new say within five years or so, try to find a reputable repair shop. Sometimes the local Better Business Bureau may help or ask around.

Picture focus and color

Your TV set just blew out whats called the convergence IC's. These, both (2 IC's) will need to be replaced, and since you smelled something burning, there are most likely bad resistors as well on this board. You will need also a service manual for sure to do touch-up convergence alighnments. If you do not have any electronic serviceing experieng or any knoledge on repairing printed circuit boards, Play it safe and call in a pro to assist you with this repair. Safety is Number one on the list! Good Luck
