Could be one of two things - if the clutch pedal just kinda flops and doesn't spring back, the clutch tensioner spring has broken. lift the hood and look at the frame on the front, right side, you'll probably see what's left of the spring hook hanging there - not easy to replace if you've never done it, take it to a shop - OR, an idler on the drive belt pivot has fallen off or broken...easier, but still some work. the small clunk you heard has me leaning toward the spring

1996 vmax 600 st. How do I read chain case fluid level . My sled will not move. Starts right up, primary engages but secondary doesn't move. Can't move track either. Wondering if fluid is low and seiz

If you're letting the clutch out and it wont move, your most likely somehow stuck in 2 gears together somehow. If it just won't go when you let the clutch out and the engine just revs, your clutch isn't engaging. If low enough on oil in the primary, you likely would have blown something in the primary long before now. You would have heard the grinding a long time ago.

1995 KLE500 Kawasaki: neutral blue light doesn't show and when clutch is released to engage in gear, engine cuts off

Hi, Ishmael the ignition circuit cut-off system comprising of the side stand switch, clutch switch and neutral switch has the following functions:
a. It prevents starting when the transmission is in gear and the side stand is up, but the clutch lever is not pulled.
b. It prevents starting when the transmission is in gear and the clutch lever is pulled, but the side stand is still down.
c. It cuts the running engine when the transmission is in gear and the side stand is moved down.
Periodically check the operation of the ignition circuit cut-off system according to the following tests.
With the engine turned off:
1. Move the side stand down.
2. Make sure that the engine stop switch is set to "RUN"
3. Turn the key to "ON".
4. Shift the transmission into the neutral position.
5. Push the start switch if the engine does not start the neutral switch may be faulty.
With the engine still running:
6. Move the side stand up.
7. Keep the clutch lever pulled.
8. Shift the transmission into gear.
9. Move the side stand down if the engine does not stall you may have a faulty side stand switch.
After the engine has stalled:
10. Move the side stand up.
11. Keep the clutch lever pulled.
12. Push the start switch if the engine does not start you may have a faulty clutch switch.
This check is most reliable if performed with a warmed-up engine.

85 toyota pickup clutch wont engage

The gear box should be okay. Check the clutch-watch if the clutch fork on the bell housing moves when someone presses the clutch. If it doesn't move, the cable needs adjusting, or if hydraulic clutch diagnose the clutch master and slave cylinders. Either one should cause the clutch fork to move and engage the clutch.

2001 Saturn SL transmission won't engage

hangon. your leaving something out. myguess is you had the ebrake pulled so the car didn't roll when it was in gear. and now the car wont move at all or what? you left alot of important info out. if it is running and wont move at any point you broke something in the trany or a driveshaft. you should not be able to shift the trany into any gear if the engine is running. the clutch is turning and unless the clutch is disengaged you wont be able to shift. knowing that i am guessing you broke it good and need a new trany

Manual forester - gears don't engage when I move the stick. Car starts fine, has been running fine, used it this morning but then went to go out and the gears won't engage. Can move freely between gears...

If you have a cable operated clutch then the inner cable is jamming bin the case and not allowing the clutch to engage. If hydraulic then the compensator port in the clutch master cylinder is blocked holding off the pressure plate and so the clutch is not engaging.

Car stopped with a clunk when moving off in first gear . gear stick still works , clutch pedal works . when you engage gear and release clutch there is a clunking sound coming from under the car

Im assuming the car isnt moving!! This may be the half shaft (shaft that connects engine/trans to your wheel axle) possibly disconnected/popped out. Have the shaft inspected for worn CV joints/bearings and engine/transmission mounts are intact. hopefully this helps!!

After being stored clutch willnot engage

do you mean wont disengage? does the pedal feel normal, or like its pushing nothing?cant put it in gear? or goes in gear but wont move?. if you put it in gear but car wont move, the clutch is toasted. if you can put it in gear with the engine off, but not when its running, check the clutch master fluid. if its low or out, then the slave or master is leaking and you will need to replace both. if the clutch arm IS working, and the pedal feels normal, sometimes you can put in gear, and start it with the clutch pedal depressed and drive it, and goose the gas to "break the disc loose"
