Riding mower revved up and now wont start


I am wondering if you have a broken spring on the carburetor. There are springs that hook the linkage up to the lever you use to speed the engine up, Also on the carburetor its self. If a spring is broken the engine may rev out of control and yes it has to be repaired to start don't try to run before repairing or you will blow it up.

Check the springs and brackets at the governer and you can bend the governer spring bracket to adjust the engine speed.

When i push in the clutch,the engine revs up.


If I am hearing you right, the engine revs ONLY when the clutch is depressed?
I would have to doubt that is what is really happening, tho. Is it possible that the engine is revving from the time that you start it, until the time that you shut it off?
This would be more likely, as depressing the clutch doesn't really have any effect on the engine, other than dis-engaging the drive-line...
IF it is revving at start up, see if it isn't only 'idling down' when the weight of the vehicle puts a load on the motor. In other words, does it idle down, or does it only SEEM like it is, because now it's pulling the car? Do you have to give it gas to go on a flat surface? If not, then it's still revving.
Then, if you decide that it's revving ALL the time, you will need to check it for vacuum-leaks or mis-adjusted linkages, or carburetor (throttle body, if it is injected).
Do yourself a favor and buy a Chilton or Haynes manual for your vehicle (at most any auto parts store), if you plan to keep it for a while. They will generally have troubleshooting sections, to help you eliminate variables until you find the actual issue. It's the best $20 you can spend!

I have f-250 diesel. keeps blowing fuse #22,glow plug controller. what might be the problem


You should start with the glow plug relay/timer.Check it to see if may be shorted.Remove the smaller wires going to it and turn the key back on,if the fuse does'nt blow then replace it,if it does then you need to unplug the fuel preheater in the filter housing and try the key on thing again,pretty sure it's one or the other.

Over-revving in 5th at 75mph all of a sudden


If the car rev'd up but did not speed up at the same time the clutch is starting to slip. Check the adjustment and recheck driving. When the clutch starts to wear this is how they act, only most people ignore whats happening and keep driving till adjustments won't fix it and the clutch has to be replaced. Have adjustment checked and keep an eye on it and hopefullty you won't need a clutch yet.

Offhand, check the fuses, wires & connectors for looseness, corrosion or pittings/burnt marks; scrape clean and tighten as necessary.

Should the fuse, wiring & connectors check out, then the voltage regulator could be suspect. This could be checked by measuring (with a voltmeter) the battery's voltage before start, on idle and while revving. Compare readings: with engine off, battery voltage should be 12 + volts, on idle should be less than 13 volts and while revving should go high with a maximum of 14.5 volts or thereabouts. If the voltage is below 12 at idle or and will not go up while revving, then the voltage regulator would require replacement (most likely).  It must be pointed out that in some instances, it could be the stator (least likely).

My honda blows my headlight fuse as I start to accelerate. Change fuses and checked wires. no luck

My 95 Honda Civic dx (revving up and down)


sounds like you might of blown a head or intake manifold gasket or cracked head. If it sounds like a rollercoaster going up the tracks or tractor sound. it's that. It's expensive repair. My advice if you dont know anyone cheap get another used car until you fix it or whatever your situation is. Also, it idles up and down because of the air escaping from the crack. If engine doesnt hold constant pressurethats whate happens. everything is to the T when working with vehicles. Plus redline dont matter, theres a cut off point, however because of the high rev you could of caused the over rev and blew a gasket or cracked the heads. Especially if you didnt have the proper fluids to keep the temperature down. Good Luck. Been there.

Difficulty getting into first gear from a higher gear


Lots of cars have a lockout that keeps you from downshifting into first at any speed over 10-15 mph - it's to keep you from inadvertently over-revving the engine and blowing it. Chances are you have trouble with it by design. If you slow to a crawl, and it goes right in, that's the case.
