SOURCE: S16RB Rival Electric Skillet

As stated by a previous poster (rlorenson2) "There's a button on the base that is depressed by a nob on the pan.
Sometimes the button gets stuck and the safety feature kicks in and it won't heat up." My Rival Electric Skillet had been used maybe 6 times when it stopped turning on.
Based on rlorenson2's info, I pulled the base out and depressed the button 10 or so times, pushing it down and letting it pop back up). It did not appear to stick, and it was not dirty or sticky. But when I tried the skillet again, it worked fine!

Bag will not seal

• Check that there aren't any gaps, folds, wrinkles or holes in pre-sealed edges.

• Moisture of foods with high liquid content will prevent the bag from

sealing properly. Cut bag open and wipe top inside of bag and reseal.

• Make sure you've placed the bag in the proper place. When making a

bag from a roll, make sure end of cut piece is on Sealing Strip, NOT over

Lower Sealing Gasket or in Drip Tray.

• Make sure you give the appliance time to cool down. Wait at least 20
seconds between seals.

If all the above have been verified and the machine will still not pull a vacuum, you will need to replace the upper and lower gaskets.

SOURCE: stopped sealing the bags, does not vacuum 3 week

Did the clip break that holds the sealing nozzle in place? If so, use a chopstick to hold the lock and seal unit in place. I place a little scotch tape on the chopstick, place it all the way across the sealing nozzle. You may have to really press on the lid to shut it, but it works. If it's not the clip, maybe you have a blocked hole or the sealing unit needs cleaned out really well. Good luck!

Where can I find Teflon tape to cover heat strip on seal-a-meal vacuum system. Model vs106

Firstly, visit their website and look for a spares service. Ordinary Teflon plumbing tape MIGHT do the job but I'm not too sure how you would go about fixing it into place.

The seal a meal will vaccume but it will not seal. It just keeps running the vaccum process. Do I need to replace my appliance? Or is this a fixable problem

You can fix it yourself for $3 or so if you look for the thermal cutoff (a resister looking device) You can get this at a quality electronics supply. If you just cross the cutoff it will work but could be a fire hazard.

Unit will not heat and Hand free light will not come on.

My husband is a fisherman and swears by his vacuum sealer, but he was about to trthrow it through the window last week when it stopped working.
The motor would just run and run, but the vacuum never kicked on.
I found an answer online that solved his problem - apparently, it's all about bag placement.
When you're just trying to seal one end to make a bag cut from a roll, make sure the end of the plastic is just on the front, flat heat seal strip and is NOT touching the black, rubber gasket that lines the vacuum tray, Also, make sure the end is NOT hanging over the gasket and into the vacuum tray.
Apparently, the machine was sucking, but air was constantly come through the other, open end.
Once you've sealed a bottom into your bag and have added your contents, then you put the open end (after making sure it's dry) all the way into the vacuum tray.
Hope this helps, good luck! I was so happy to find an answer online that I figured I'd share it with others.
Here's to fresh fish!

Good Morning, I have a Rival-Seal@Meal Vacuum Sealer Model # VS106/-B....Problem I am having is, it has stoped sealing the bag....Heat strip is not hot at all....Can you help me.....I purchase it just...

I have seen many complaints about those things come to FixYa...It seems that the wire that makes the heat either becomes disconnected or far as I can tell there is no fixing or replacement for that.
Wish that I could give you better news.....:-(

How do I make vac bags out of my roll for my VS106/b

I believe for the Rival machine you cut some of the roll, then seal one end. Put your product in the roll then seal the other end. Generic rolls can be found at

These will work on a Rival machine.

just bought mine - how long does it take to heat up? it's been 10 minutes already, I don't feel any heat. no lights coming on, but when I pushed on the lid, the vacuum started, so I know it's "on"

Take apart and see if wires are connected That is what was wrong w/ mine. Soldered wire now works fine.
