What could be wrong with a Henry Hoover that's about a year old the suction isnt as powerful and the machine is vibrating whilst on

If the machine is vibrating while on, then this would suggest that something has caused the motor to become out of balance. This could have been cause by some foreign object being allowed to go through the motor, dampness/moisture through the motor causing the bearing to collapse. Either way the motor will need to be replaced.

Water in henry hoover motor HVR 200A

Chris, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you've already guessed it. You need a new machine. Personally, if I were you, I'd check into the small shop vac's, type of vacuum. Craftsman has a good one that I've been using for, wow, more years than I can remember now. I had it a long time I know that. I actually picked up a spare one at a garage sale last summer and put it up on a shelf for one my old one finally bites the bullet, but so far, it's still going strong. The wet/dry vac's have a float system in them that actually plug the bottom of the air chamber where the vac draws it's air from, when the water gets too high in the tank. The motor starts to race faster than normal and that's the tipoff that it's full. Dump out the tank and go at it again. Better luck this time.

I was using my Henry Hoover as usual. When i sucked up quite a fair sized puddle of water. The hoover instantly cut out and a strange burning smell was coming from it. Would this be the fuse, motor etc ?...

Hi. I have to wonder why anyone would **** up a puddle of water with a dry vacuum cleaner (with no earth lead). I realise that your question may simply be a joke, but if you are serious, I think it is probably fair to assume that it is now dead and probably gone to "Henry Heaven". Perhaps it would pay you to buy a "Charles" which is a wet & dry version of Henry.

My Old Henry hoover is making a VERY loud noise when switched on! Its still works but very loud, please help!

Most likely the motor bearings have worn out. You can fit a new motor quite easily, but if you need to pay someone else to do it for you the labour plus motor cost will probably make the job uneconomical. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...

Water in Henry vacuum cleaner motor.

I would say it's essential to open Henry up, otherwise (assuming he has indeed got water inside him) you will wait for ever for him to dry. He can be opened very easily - just undo the four recessed screws on the underside of his hat, and the upper part will lift off. Pay attention to the switch (or switches, depending on the model) as that may be more vulnerable to water penetration than the motor. The motor compartment may have water in it, but the motor itself is probably fairly well protected. When you've got it opened and mopped up any visible water, it will help to give it a blow with a hair dryer.
If in doubt, though, get a professional to deal with it. It pays not to mess with electricity if you're unsure!

My hoover smells of ammonia

Hello,
I too have a problem with a bad smell coming from my henry hound hoover, but thats probely because i haven't used a hoover bag. I took the cloth filter out, banged all the dust off, then sprayed it with 'RugDoctor' pet stain remover for carpets and upholstery. It still smells a bit, but not half as bad as befor. I have now ordered a reusable, zipable, washable cloth hoover bag especially made for Henry's. It cost £8.80 from ebay with free postage. Hope this helps Nikki.

Ignoring for the moment the fascinating question of why you would actually want to do this...  I'm sorry to tell you it won't work. Swapping the wires over will make no difference.
