Contact Traeger customer service at http://www.traegergrills.com for parts and installation instructions. Also check out the FAQs. There are instructions on replacing and aligning the augurs.

I keep getting an error msg. When it finally starts, it shuts off with the Err

Hi Terry,

This may help... ...from Treager's site FAQ

"My Unit Goes Out On Smoke
  1. Open the cooking chamber lid and remove cooking grill, angled drip pan and U-shaped firepot cover. Look and see if there is a large accumulation of pellet ash in and around the firepot. If there is, it will need to be cleaned out. Do this ONLY WHEN THE GRILL IS TOTALLY COLD! Replace U-shaped firepot cover, angled drip pan and cooking grills and resume cooking/smoking process.
  2. If this does not remedy the problem, please contact the Traeger Service Department."
From my personal experience, cleaning out the pellet ash is needed when the smoker will not hold a high temperature regardless of the thermostat setting.

In your case, the fire pot may be packed with pellet ash and pellets from the auger jamming.

Good luck.

Breaking up solid pettet in auger

Traeger has an FAQ related to this on their website at http://www.traegergrills.com/. Look for it under" why are there no pellets in the firepot?" You may have to remove the augur but Traeger explains how to do it in this FAQ.

On smoke setting my temp goes up over 300 degrees

Traeger suggests realignment of the augur for grills that are not getting hot enough. I wonder if this might be the same solution for grills that are getting too hot.

Here's their solution which I copied from the Traeger website at http://www.traegergrills.com/.

I've been noticing that my grill temperature keeps dropping lower. What is the problem?

You need to "true" your auger. To do this:

  1. Run the unit out of pellets.
  2. Remove the allen screw and nut out of the auger and motor shaft.
  3. Try spinning the auger shaft over the motor shaft. The auger shaft should spin freely over the motor shaft without binding.
  4. If the auger binds, loosen the 7/16th inch bolts on the motor bracket and move bracket until you can rotate the auger shaft over the motor shaft. Then re-tighten 7/16th inch bolts. Make sure auger shaft still rotates over motor shaft, or repeat step 4 again until it does.
  5. Reattach auger and motor shafts using the screw and nut which you removed in step 2.
You might want to contact Traeger at their website to verify that this is a solution for overheating. In the above case, the improperly aligned augur was not dropping enough pellets in the firepot. In your case, it sounds like it may be dropping too many. This sounds like a routine maintenance thing that ought to be done periodically anyway.

Traeger bbq problems

This is a common problem if you're trying to cook when its cold outside. Traeger sells insulating blankets for grills that are being used at 35 degrees or less. However, it could be an augur alignment problem that's keeping the augur from dunping enough pellets in the firebox. Here's Traeger's FAQ for that problem.

Q. I've been noticing that my grill temperature keeps dropping lower. What is the problem?

You probably should contact Traeger customer service at http://www.traegergrillscom to confirm that this is your problem.

Jamming auger onmagnum countrysidepelletstove

The softwood pellets are not the problem. The problem is the quality of those pellets. Make sure you are not using last years fuel and it has not been stored outside. Also check the auger system for junk, gouging and bending of the auger.

Cozy model 100 pellet stove.auger seems to be jamming sometimes ,removed motor and it turns, could problem be in gearbox?have motor in a vise and it has been turning for 4 hours

How about the pellets getting trapped between the auger and case? Look to see that the auger is down and seated correctly, not saying that the gear box is not the problem. I just think that you should look at all of the simple things first. Does the auger spin freely with out pellets in it? How are the bearings on the auger? Does it require lubercation? Does the gear box turn easily with out the motor?

How to charge an auger on traeger grill

Turn the control on high and wait about three minutes. Shut contol off and restart in about 1 minute, This should have enough pellets in the auger to start before the hot rod shuts off. You can also put a hand full of pellets in the burn pot and usually bu the time these pellets are burned out the others are there. A couple of cycles usually will start them.

auger may be jamming or motor is starting to go unplug unit and open back and oil auger motor and check operation- auger may not be sitting right in feeder tube also try a different pellet some pellets are bigger(sizes vary from company to company) which sometimes jam at feeder in hopper
