How do you remove the red on/off switch from the feeder tray of my florabest wood chipper

In the most new there is an auto- power-off inside both or one of the carbon brushes that it will stop when its time, but when you hearing a difference in motor rpm or a strange noise then it can be neccesary.

Morbark Beever m18r. What causes the feeder rollers to stop rotating?

Chippers sometimes bite off more than they can chew but there also could be a malfunction of the drive mechanism.

Chipper model 47287 reverse wont stop when you let off lever very hard to change gears when running but when its off they are easy to change

Be gentle, that shift cable is NLA (I know, I need one).

It sounds as if the belt idler is not releasing. Take a look at the belt engage cable, Ref. No. 9 on this exploded view:

ftp://asavage.dyndns.org/Troy-Bilt/47287-ChipperVac/47287c-47287c02.07.gif

The spring at the end of that cable is what releases the idler from the belt. Another pic of the spring is near the idler arm Ref. No. 13 on this view:

If that spring is broken or missing, that would give the symptoms you describe.

Need a Shifter cable for a TroyBilt Chipper Vac model #47286

If it's the same as for my 47287 (8HP, 3 spd + reverse), it's part No. 1901996 and is NLA. Let me know if you find a source, mine is also broken.

I have a Troy-Built Chipper/Vac Model 47279 (5HP) that has not been run in a while. I have drained the fuel and added new but it will not start. The old fuel did not have any fuel additive prior to storage...

i have the same Chipper, vac. Have you checked for spark? You may want to clean the fly wheel. I use emery cloth to clean the area at the magneto, If there is no spark, Also you may have to clean the carb. I have been looking for a manual for this model with no luck. Hope this helps!

My chipper sat for 3 years and i had to clean the fly wheel so it would have fire , it is hard to start now and will not run with out the chok on, i was wondering if the timing is off, did not know the gap...

need to do a full engine tune up with carb rebuild, the old stale fuel has gummed up the fuel system, sitting up is the worst thing you can do to an engine. there is nothing you can pour in the fuel tank to clean the carburetor, it must be dissasembled and cleaned. as for the timing, the gap is aprox 10,000 of an inch or .010 a business card works great or an old drivers license works good for engines that have worn mag bearings hope this helps good luck!

Will not give spark. I cleaned the rust from the mag wheel and the machine has not run for five years.

if its a briggs and stratton engine your ignition coil might be faulty... you should be able to get a 2nd hand unit at your local mower shop... or.check that your throttle control lever is to run position as it has a stop switch on it earthing out the ignition

Can't start Chipper

Unplug the spark plug wire FIRST.  DO NOT SKIP THAT.  Then, WITH THE SPARK PLUG WIRE UNPLUGGED AND DISCONNECTED AND NOWHERE NEAR THE PLUG TIP, get a good sized stick, and try to turn the cutter wheel assembly in reverse.  I suspect you have a piece of wood stuck in there, and it won't come loose unless you turn the thing backwards.  You have to disconnect the spark plug because the engine could fire when you turn it.  Even if it doesn't start, one good kick could hurt you pretty seriously.  So, go unplug the spark plug and do your thing.

if a left-handed operator is assigned a machine that is designed for right-handed preferences, you can reverse the hoses to accommodate him or her.
