Question about Riccar Vacuums

Riccar model 1700 hose broken near where it enters the handle. How can I open the handle to repair the end of the hose?

If it is not repairable, can I purchase a hose and replace the house without buying the entire control handle?

SOURCE: VACUUM REPAIR

There are 2 tabs that stick out on the release, they fit in slots, so from the top look down and you can see them, using a flatblade screwdriver that will fit in there, push the side in to release it, which isn't easy, but it can be done. When you get the old one out, then the new one, push down on it until it locks into place.

SOURCE: How to replace just the Kirby 210097 Hose End For

If you just grab it where it swivels and pull with a slight bending motion the plastic "bayonet" section on the end of the hose will pull out of the plastic housing that attaches to the vacuum. Don't pull on the corrugated hose section or you will ruin the whole assembly.

Riccar 8995 no suction

I think you mean it's an 8955, Riccar has not had a 8995 model. If there is no suction in the hose it has to have something clogging it. Open the little round opening on the back of the vacuum where the hose attaches to see if you have suction there.

I have a CT600 power brush that would not power up. Thinking the motor was bad in it, I replaced it with a new CT700 power brush, I am still experiencing the same problem the power brush itself does not...

First try connecting the power nozzle directly to the hose. If it works, the problem is due to a broken wire or faulty connection in the wands. At least one wand will need to be replaced.
My guess is it's probably due to a broken or disconnected wire. This could be in the hose (most likely), the wands, or the tank wiring itself. You can test the hose wiring by using a multimeter or continuity tester. A tester may be easier for you to use, and will provide the info needed.
Disconnect both ends of the hose, sit down, and lay the ends on your lap. Touch one end of the probe to a terminal on one end of the hose. Place other probe on a connector at the other end. One connector will light, the other won't. Now repeat with the other terminal at the first end of the hose and repeat. The terminals will read opposite the reading in the first test. If the light fails to turn on with either test, it's a broken wire in the hose. This is most likely near/at the handle end, or at the wall end. In some cases it can be repaired, but not always.
It could also be due to a faulty switch.
For a definite diagnosis, take the unit, the hose, power nozzle etc. to a repair center.

Riccar 1700 power nozzle wont turn on

Make sure the 'Power brush' switch on the contol panel on the hose is depressed. Check the circuit breaker on the power nozzle; it will either be a button or a breaker that looks like a rocker switch, try to reset it.
Is the power nozzle motor running but the brush just isn't turning? If so you may have a broken belt. Not a likely solution since the belt is a lifetime belt, but still remotely possible.

Riccar rc1100 won't turn off

I am an riccar dealer, and you either have a short in the wire leads from front of vacuum to circuit board or a bad circuit board which if so the boardd will have to be sent to manufacture to be rebuilt as there are no new circuit boards available. if not under warrenty which i doubt since riccar hasnt made these models for a while. would recomend replacement with either sunburst or moonlight model as they are a comparable replacement to the repair. or just simply just plug and unplug machine, if it doesnt bother you to do so. If more questions email me at drago640@yahoo.com subject riccar, or go to www.riccar.com to locate nearest dealer
