Question about Fisher and Paykel Dishwashers
The drawer handle has broken. I have bought the replacement part and removed the front panel. The handle assembly is still on the drawer. I don't want to break anything getting it off. Looking at the new one shows clips that would break. How do I remoe this part safely?

Although it is a different model than yours, here is the link to the installation manual for an Electrolux DW and it is likely similar. The custom panel instructions begin on page 22 and show templates and how to remove and reinstall the factory door and a custom installation panel: http://www.electroluxicon.com/Files/International_English/0-999/EDW5505ESS_install_en.pdf

This is not a difficult repair. If the model number you have this listed under is correct, all you should have to do is follow these steps:
1. Turn off the power breaker, or unplug the dishwasher.
2. Open the dishwasher door and locate the screws around the perimeter of the inner door panel. These are torx, size T-2, I believe. Remove the screws directly behind the control panel and only loosen the remaining ones. This will enable you to remove only the control panel without having to remove the entire front panel facing.
3. If only the handle is broken, all you have to do is remove the the screws holding the latch assembly in place and lift out of the way. The door handle should lift out from the rear and a new one can easily be inserted.
4. If the latch assembly is broken, I would recommend replacing the small switches that plug into the latch assembly as well. They typically break when attempting to unplug the wires from the terminals, because they are so fragile.
Appliancepartspros.com has all the parts you need, along with some excellent exploded view diagrams you can use for reference. The parts that I am talking about are items 3, 4, and 5 under the "Control Panel" heading.
Item 3 is the Door Handle
Item 4 is the Door Switch
Item 5 is the Latch Assembly

Probably too late for you now :( I found this site.
If you happen to have yours fixed, I would love instructions on how to reattach my top drawer to the clips! Can't find an image anywhere and just can't figure it out. sigh.

There are two plastic bolts on each side of the dishwasher drawer holding the front cover. Get a plier to pull these out but make sure the cover is supported so that it does not fall down.
see installation manual page 7. The location of the plastic screws is shown in insert diagram of notation 6. This is for a later model but yours should be similar.
Hope this helps. Wonder why you want to remove the front cover?

9.1 Drawer Front Removal
9.1.1 Slide open drawer.
9.1.2 Locate draw pin on either side of the tub.
9.1.3 Using a sharp pair of long nose pliers or slip jaw pliers grasp the center dividing web of the pin and pull away from the tub to remove the pin. Support the drawer front with your hand while doing this. Note: The pin web is vertical.
9.1.4 With both pins removed the bottom of the drawer front can now be eased out slightly.
9.1.5 Now carefully pull the drawer front down to allow it to come free from the handle and top locating slots.
9.1.6 Carefully remove the earth wire from the tab on the drawer front. (if it is an integrated model you will also need to unplug the integrated badge from the isolating module)
9.1.7 Refit in reverse manner ensuring the drawer slides are right forward and the pin secures through the hook on the front end of the slide.
Note: When reinserting the pins make sure the dividing web is vertical.
9.2 Tub Removal
9.2.1 Open the drawer fully.
9.2.2 Depress the right-hand tub clip and push it back about 30mm (1 inch). Repeat for the left-hand side.
9.2.3 The tub may now be lifted up off the drawer runners.
9.2.4 Slide both runners back into the product.
9.2.5 Refit in reverse manner.
Drawer and LCD Display Removal
9.3.1 Remove the drawer front as per instructions in 9.1.
9.3.2 The handle fits onto a lip at the top of the tub and then slides from left to right to lock into place. Push the right-hand end of the handle to the left until it feels free then remove it out towards you.
9.3.3 Disconnect the six wire harness from the electronic controller to the LCD interface.
9.3.4 The handle may now be lifted clear. The LCD display is held in place by a spring tab on one
end and a clip in the centre. Use a small blade screwdriver to carefully release the tab and centre clip as shown. The LCD assembly can now be removed.
9.3.5 The wiring harness can now be unplugged from the LCD.
9.3.6 Refit in reverse manner.
