In that old a machine I suspect the grease and oil of the mechanism has gotten hard (waxy) and is causing the gear mechanism to stick. Most likely it simply needs to be taken apart, the old lubricant removed, and new grease and oil added.

How do I Move the flywheel Elna 334

Usually you simply grasp the wheel and turn it. Most machines use the wheel to thread bobbins, and typically you pull the wheel out, directly outward away from the machine, slightly, to disengage the gears so the bobbin will wind without the needle going up/down. If it's pulled out, it will just spin when you try to turn it and the needle won't move.

If that's what's happening try pushing the wheel in, toward the machine. You can't push too hard, really, it will either pop in or not. If not, and if it won't move, it may be seized, which means one more of the gears inside have stuck together from overheating of lack of oil. If so, it's going to need a repair man.

Hope it's just disengaged.

Buttonhole Husqvarna 6430. When it is supposed to sew the right side of the buttonhole it just goes back over the left side. The machine doesn't do the two buttonhole lines next to each other . An

the machine probably needs to be serviced to see why it's not making
a buttonhole and see if the gear or cam for the zig zag stitch is
worn or damaged.

Does the feed dogs move at all?
If not soulds like a busted gear. Take the botom panel off and inspect the gears should be able to get some from a sewing dealer and replace them if your mechanical. watch a youtub video on timing a sewing machine and you will do great.
hope this helps

Viking sewing machine model 6430 will only sew backwards

Th cam stack gears have gummed up on you you can try getting the back cover off along with the side and soaking the machine down with wd-40 and running it while forcing the reverse button in and out if it breaks free try and soak up as much of the wd-40 as you can and then oil anything that moves. I know this may be discouraging but viking no longer supports this machine and you might be better off taking it to an older viking dealer for help.

Reverse sewing button stuck HELP!!

MOdel 6430 has the stitch length and buttonhole selector on the same knob. It is the one on the bottom right side of the machine. I believe you may have selected the buttonhole by pulling out on the large round knob. You need to turn the knob back to 0 zero and push in. This should return the machine to normal mode.Adjust your stitch length to 3 and try it. The reverse knob in the center should also stick out so that it becomes operational again.
