Under voltage alarm sounds even without a load.

The inverter was working properly powering a small fraction of its rated load when the undervoltage alarm came on and continued even with no load. It has been normal for the alarm to sound when first plugged in or if the battery was being drawn down. Now it sounds continuously even with a fully charged battery and no load at all. I still supplies power. Perhaps I'll just disconnect the alarm sounder. If it frys it won't be any less usable than it is now. I was looking for a schematic or the name of the manufacturer but a Google search only returns all the entities that want to sell me a new one.

It is most likely the low voltage alarm. Suggest connecting when the car is running with no load (110 volts not connected). If the alarm continues turn the unit off and on to reset.

Hope this helps?

Inverter Protection Features
• Short Circuit Protection. The inverter will automatically shut down until short is removed.
• Low Voltage Alarm. An alarm will sound when the voltage from the battery discharges to 10.5 +/- 0.5 volts DC. This is an indication that the battery needs to be recharged.
• Over Voltage Protection. The RED LED Indicator Light will illuminate and the inverter will automatically turn itself off when the input exceeds 16.5 +/- 1 volt DC.
• Under Voltage Protection. The RED LED Indicator Light will illuminate and the inverter will automatically turn itself off when the input is less than 10.0 +/- 0.5 volts DC.
• Overload Protection. The RED LED Indicator Light will illuminate and the inverter will automatically turn itself off when the continuous draw of the equipment being operated exceeds 1200 watts or the surge draw of the equipment exceeds 2400 watts.
• Thermal Protection. The RED LED Indicator Light will illuminate and the inverter will automatically turn itself off when the circuit temperature exceeds 150° F

Overload alarm on steady and no voltage

What is the engine doing? Is it bogging down like under high load? If so you may have an internal short and reason for no voltage output as well as the overload alarm.

Check your battery and alternator for proper voltage with and without a load. Batter under a load with vehicle off must not be under 9.6volts. If so battery is bad. With vehicle running under a load at 1500 rpm the voltage should not drop under 13.0 volts. I have seen low voltages trip guages on fords. If the battery and charging system check good suspect bad instrument cluster.

Engine won't start. Dash lights flash rapidly when key turned.

the battery says 12 volts but may be dropping to 4 or 5 under a load...i would suggest jumpstarting the car and see what happens.the battery should read in the high 12 volts and not less than 9.5 under cranking. the dash lights go out on your car when starting, and the alarm will go off ,and disable the ignition if the voltage is too low in cranking the car because the computer will shut it down and activate the anti theft.....check your battery posts are tight. best of luck

Deck is powering off every 5 seconds

If radio stays on at low or no volume and cuts out when turning up you may have your battery backup voltage (yellow wire) droping below 10v under signal load. There is a circuit called backup check in radio that moniters Voltage It may seem ok when measuring without volume but under load it will fluctuate with the audio. Try hooking up Heavy guage Ground and Backup battery wires to prevent voltage loss across wires under load. Also check for any speaker that may not be producing proper sound when and if you can get radio working Disconnect wires to that speaker to see if radio will stay on. Just a couple of many possibilities.
