Question about Video Game Consoles & Games
The figures were somewhat stickmen but they were evil court jesters. Also you could find these little transporter squares that would beem you to different parts of the game to avoid getting killed.it had hundreds of different scenarios, remember, your the size of mice so you do battle hiding behind everything in a household environment you can even teleport onto a ceiling fan and shoot evil jesters. someone has to know the name of this game,I remember playing with a guy online from Puerto Rico. I hope someone recalls this game. Its a kicker.

a large number of older games do not work on vista, they are incompatible, you can either download the patch from the games site, which i see youve tried and it did not work, in this case, try to run the program in windows xp SP2 mode. to do this, fidn the application or executive file, it will have .exe at the end of the filename or will say application, then right click it, properties, compatibility, then check the box to run in compatibility mode for:, then choose for Windows XP (Service Pack 2), use those settings then try it again, if it still doesnt work then you simple can not use that game on vista. your last option you can try has a small risk of virus, only because it is user created, but seacrh the internet for a patch that allows it to work on vista. some people make their own patches to allow the program to work on vista.

You need to run it under windows 98 compatibility mode:
To do this locate the file "privateer.exe". By default, this file is located in Program Files/Global Star/Privateers Bounty - Age of Sail 2.
- Right click on the privateer.exe and select Properties.
- Click the Compatibility tab.
- Check the Compatibility Mode box by clicking in it.
- Use the drop down menu to select Windows 98/ME.
- Click Apply, and then click OK to close the window.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: age of empires 3 not loading
Age of Empires 3 requires a decent computer to run. If im correct in understanding what you are saying, you graphics card may not be up to date. This is what happend to me on several games. All i had to do was update my video card drivers and it worked.
The recommended requirements are:
- Microsoft Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP
- 512 MB of RAM
- 2.0 Ghz CPU
- 128 MB 3D video card
- 1.5 GB of extra free hard disk space
- 32x CD-ROM drive
- DirectX 9.0c (important)
- DirectX 8.0 compatible sound card
- 56 kbps Internet connection for online play
If you PC has all of the above or better, it should work perfectly.
If you do not have those requirments, download a 3D render that acts as a card for your computer, making your computer play games it orignally cant handly. I recommend "Swiftshader". Just type in google and go to there site, and download a demo. their are harldy any restictions on it apart from a splash logo in the side. when you extract, place the
"d3d8", and the "d3d9" files in the root (main folder) of the game. Then run!
This method is good if you have a good amount of ram (more then the game requirements)
HOPE IT HELPED!!!!!

1. Switch off your antivirus software.
2. Locate the folder(s) mentioned in error message, click with right mouse button on them and then untick "Read only" checkbox (choose second option in next window).
It works fine for me under Win XP (SP3)
