Question about Dell Office Equipment & Supplies
Green power light stays lit..nothing else lights up, including the control panel screen. None of the buttons do anything so I can't press the wrench button to reset or anything else. Prior to this the printer had been working fine...no warning it is just unresponsive with the green power light on?? We have this printer overseas right now, so it's not possible to send it in for service. I don't usually look at the back of the printer..dont know if this could be relevant, but in trying to discover the issue, I do notice that the black box that the power cord plugs into has a red light that I can see glowing inside the machine? I unplugged the cord from that small box and removed the box to see if it was something that needed to be replaced or something? but can't find even a name for what it is..let alone a replacement for it...when the box is unplugged from the machine but the power cord is still plugged into the small box there is a small green light that comes on. Dont know if this has anything to do with the sleep mode/ energy saver lock problem or if this is normal for this machine as I have not ever had to investigate it before???
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

on the signal board replace the caps by the 5/9 volt regulators. c2p04 is the main culprit. 6 caps in total can be changed. I believe c2p05 also.

If you type in 'flashing power light' in the problem box, for 5 you get print head failure, often it means the connectors between cartridge and print carriage are dirty, can be cleaned with a pencil eraser and a soft cloth. there is a sequence of checks and repairs to follow on the canon service page

My HL-5240 did the same thing, Here is what I found:
Look at the back of the printer. Pull down the back cover. Look to the right and the left of the exposed internals of the printer and there should be another handle/knob you can pull down. Pull these both down simultaneously and check to make sure there isn't a piece of paper in there! This was a shock to me! My office printer was held up for days until I found this hidden door in the back! I felt like an idiot that it was from a stupid paper jam!

SOURCE: blinking red light
Red Light blinks when the ink cartridge is bad..
to check which one is bad..
take out all cartridges from the printer and clean the copper contact and the inner area of the cartridge slot with a lint-free cloth...
power off the printer and unplug the power cable from the printer..
press & hold the power button on the printer for 60 seconds..
connect the power cable and power on the printer..
insert any ONE cartridge and close the door..
similarly insert other cartridges one by one and close the door and check if the light blinks..
if it blinks ..it means the respective cartridge is bad and replace it..
if u have replaced all the cartridge..it might be possible that the cartridge sensor inside the printer have gone bad..
if this is the case so ..u might service the printer..
but I will suggest to go for a new printer as 7660 is quite an lod printer which hp launched in 2004 or 2005..
even if u have juz bought it ..it will be refurbished one..
