The easiest solution is go to the Acer website and download the latest sound drivers for your laptop model. Possibly the drivers are on one of the restore disks, but the latest driver for sound should be readily available on their site.

Factory Resotre is a saint

With about 90% of all major problems like viruses crashed soft ware etc.
the most simpliest way to fix them is a factory restore which with laptop and pcs since around 2008 and onwards has new been simplier.

with a dell press alt f9
acer repeatedly tap f11 through whole set up till high pitched sound
the rest are easy found through google

Warning this will wipe all information of the laptop/pc anything u want u must back up u cant save it anywhere where it wont be affected this is why its so afective for viruses as theres nowhere they can hide hope this helps

Computer shows Toshiba at first then it goes black. There's a cursor in the left top corner not blinking. Cannot do anything at all. Help! What could it be?! Just had it overhauled in Sept/10.

Sounds like corrupted hard drive. Either physical shock, or even possible virus damage.
Use recovery disk or partion, reload system from scratch.
This will wipe out all exsisting data.

How do I reformat the harddrive if windows wont load?? I have a virus and everything froze, so I tried rebooting windows with a cd rom so i could wipe the hard drive, but i get a message that windows...

That sounds like you have a very nasty virus that has infected the memory.
Switch off, unplug and remove the battery.
Using just the AC adapter, place your OS disk in the drive and as the laptop gets to the BIOS option, press F2 or whichever F button lets you in to set your master boot device as DVD/CD Rom.
close the laptop down and remove the AC Adapter.
Plug the AC Adapter back in and boot the laptop, that should get you into the CD ROM disk for formatting and replacing your system. I hope you remember to download all of the required drivers.
Hope this help.

My friend has a Dell laptop 1545 that says she has a virus. It will not let her sign on to internet, load a disk or anything? What is the best way to clear this out? I am trying to find a solution online...

If the Sell does not have a virus program installed and she cannot get on to the Internet to use a WEB based virus scanning program, or install a virus program for a CD then the only alternative is to use the Dell Re-installation CD or Recovery CD and wipe/format the hard disk and re-install Windows again..

I'm having problems with the audio on my Acer Aspire One, the sound is distorted or scratchy does not matter the audio application I use, I already went over the troubleshoot steps and is the same, in...

Sounds like you may have a virus, spyware, malware, etc. That could screw with the sound if it screwed up the sound drivers.

Regardless, you can go here to get the drivers for the audio:

Try reinstalling the drivers, if that doesn't work then use the system restore utility in the system tools folder to restore your computer back to the last date that is was working properly. If your windows registry was messed up then this system restore will fix that and the sound problem.

Also run a virus scan on your computer to make sure you don't have any viruses or spyware.

With the system taking longer then normal to start then that could mean the operating system is corrupt. In that case back-up all your important files to a flash drive and wipe out the hard drive and restore the laptop back to factory defaults, you should have gotten the software if you bought the laptop from a store new.

Any questions feel free to ask me.

Have you reloaded your laptop's operating system, as well as all drivers for other parts of your computer, like Wireless and CD/DVD driver? Did the computer actually have a virus? I am sitting here at the computer and click on maybe something in an email - and this downloads just start going crazy and loading - no idea how to stop it or what even starts it. About the only thing I...

Do you think one of the emails you opened with the attachment ma have had a Trojan Virus attached to it??
What type of Anti Virus Software are you running on the Computer. I would start with a full scan of your computer to include the hard drive and see if the Antivirus Software identifies anything, if not I would do a backup of the computer and then wipe and reinstall the operating system.
If your computer contracted a virus they are sometimes very hard and costly to remove.

Auto widows installer comes up in the windows

if you can clarify a bit on what happens when you "click something" i might be able to be more help, but it sounds virus/spyware related. Slower computer speed and internet connectivity issues are some of the top effects that i see from infections.

see if you can run a virus scan, or even just wipe your drive and reinstall windows if you don't have too much important stuff on it, that'll definitely speed it up : D

Got a virus want to set it to factory or wipe the whole thing and start fresh. HELP!!!

well 2 things you can do,
When starting up you can push F8 or F2 so you get in the safe mode.
Run virus scanner from there.
It can also be a faulty HD. Which is a little more expensive to change out. Hope on the safe mode solution.
