Question about Dyson DC14 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum
WHY IS THERE STATIC DUST ON THE OUTSIDE CANISTER OF MY DYSON
Hi Donna, it's Jack at Dyson.
As with any vacuum cleaner, it's normal for your Dyson vacuum to generate harmless static in use. You may find this causes small, airborne dust particles to cling to the outer casing of the machine, including the outside of the cleaner bin. This can be easily removed using a soft, dry cloth.
It sounds as if your DC14 is working as intended, but if you'd like any further advice please call our experts directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Hi- I have the same problem: suction fine, but the brushbar was not spinning. I went 1st to the Dyson site and went thru their troubleshooting guide and I'd done all those things, so I called Dyson (1-866-MY DYSON in the USA) and they walked me thru a very simple solution.
What worked was to "rest" the bare floor/carpet adjustment, and it's very easy! You do this by clicking the carpet to bare floor adjustment back and forth at least 5 times. Make sure when you end it's on carpet. Then tilt it back all the way from the upright position so it's flat on the floor and turn it onto it's left side. The carpet indicator should be below the word carpet. THAT WAS IT! As soon as I turned it on again, the brush bar is spinning great! I wish I could tell you right now how well it picks up, but unfortunately I took out the filter and rinsed it, so I have to wait until tomorrow to **** anything up. However, I'm sure it will work now that the brush bar is moving. Like I said, the suction was fine.
Just as an FYI--If you call, they will have you try other things to rule out other problems 1st. I had already done all the things suggested in their troubleshooting guide on their site and the only additional thing they asked me to try was to turn it on and tilt it back as though you are going to vacuum and make sure the suction from the top tube had stopped, as it normally does, and mine did.
Hope this helps!

SOURCE: my vacuum won't turn on
Hi, Darran from Dyson here. It is possible that the thermal cutout has activated as your machine may have become too warm during use. If you leave it for an hour or two and see if it switches back on then we would recommend checking your filter and checking your machine for a blockage. If you need any further advice, call us on 0800 298 0298 if in the UK or 1-800-MYDYSON if in the US to speak to one of our customer service advisors. Thanks.
