Question about Televison & Video

2 Answers

Hi Ginko. I have Phillips TV 60PP935217,I replaced the board power supply including flyback(LSB board #313503710171), and the 2 STK392-120. After replacing 2 ICs convergence chip ,it had the problem with Red convergence, I could remove the Red convergence in vertical but no horizontal line at all, I checked the voltage at the STK 1 (-22V,37V) and STK 2 (-37V,37V). Do you think the LCHDR Auto Convergence board is bad(PN:31350133233.3 01)? Please give me advise. Thanks, Tom

After going through the details of items you have already replaced but still have a problem with red convergence, my advice is not to try any more experimentation should be attempted after changing the 2 ic's, because from now on it will be a trial & error method to rectify it and in this process you might damage a important item, it would be best to change the auto convergence board. period........sodeep

Hi

Have you replaced the resistors connected near the stk IC's as they are also required to be replaced. This voltage diffrence is due to the resistors which are needed to be replaced with same valued resistors. Please tell me the color bands on the resistor and i'll tell you with what resistance value you'll need to replace them.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

If you have already checked the STK ICs then it is definetely the convergence board that has gone bad and needs replacement.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

    Thanks

    Hi Tom

There is a common power supply problem with these that requires the replacement of four capacitors on the power board. This could be causing your problem.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

    Thanks

My 60 inch Phillips Magnavox Rear Projection Tv will not turn on and there is a wheezing sound coming from inside it.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Wheezing sound can be caused due to many reasons however, to start with open the back of the unit and check the power supply board for any blown capacitors. Also check the flyback as it can be some loose wires in the coil. Usually this happens when there is a vibration in the horizontal circuit, the flyback and/or coil can make this noise. The flyback can also go bad and cause this issue, opening the unit is only recommended if you have some electrical expertise. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

that is usually related to the LSB large signal board will eventually need replacement. Most repair shops will not troubleshoot the LSB at component level, they will opt for replacing the entire circuit board. If you need more info or help to locate a LSB board. please let me know.

On these sets, if your not experienced with this problem I would not try, but you could get the the part yourself and replace it. Call PTS 1800-844-7871 and ask to speak to a tech and he or she could tell you what you need and how to put it in. I just repaired a 51pp9202h/17 and would not want to do another. It has many boards in it and depending on the problem you could only buy another board and replace. Mine went black, I could hear audio but no picture. Thought it was the convergence board but it was the SSB the one with the Flyback on it. So after replacing almost everything I just bought another and its fixed now. So hope this helps
