I,m having trouble setting the remote for this machine. i have hit the reset and that didn,t do anything. can you help me please

Make sure you have good batteries in the remote. Then if nada works the problem lies with either the hand remote or the receiver part in the AC.

Reset the contactor relay

the contactor does not have a reset button 24 volts will energize a magnet and pull the contactor in you can also manually push in the contactor for testing purposes the airhandler has the transformer which produces 24 volts this power then goes to the tstat then you select a mode which then goes to the contactor you most likely have a blown fuse on the circuit board or simular problem the contactor could have shorted causing this

My house was struck by lightning most of all my computers and tv's and phones are no working and my ac is not coming on at all. What happen to my AC unit

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

The main Preinted circuit board (PCB) most likely has had a failure of the small PCB transformer. This is the most susceptable component (PCB transformer) in the Air Conditioner. Within the last 60 days I have personally experienced the exact same symtom. I replaced the PCB transformer and 1 diode on the main PCB of the air-conditioner and my AC unit is working fine. Unless you can find a source for the transformer your only option is to replace the PCB (Board).

Finding the exact transrformer for the PCB can take a very long time. It iwll look similar to this one: http://www.machsources.com/productimages/9913/pcb-mounting-transformer.jpg

If you have home owners insurance ALL STATE and State Farm often cover this type of damage. It is worth the time to find out if you are a home owner.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Hello
You need to complete the 24 volt circut from the themostat to the transformer to get the contactor to pull in.

Check for voltage at the transformer, should be 120 v in 24 volts out. Also there may be a small reset button on the transformer.

Turn the thermostat off and check for 24vac between R and C on the thermostat. If there is no C then to G or W. If you don't have 24vac go the transformer and check for 24vac on the secondary. If it isn't there then check for 120vac on the transformer primary. If it isn't there check the circuit breaker/fuse. If it is there then ohm the transformer windings and replace if bad. Let me know what you find so I can offer more advice.

Is there a breaker on unit 9000 itself. i changed the thermastat there was a spark and now it dont work. is there some kind of reset button??model num;ca9036vk92

It sounds like you shorted the transformer. You can check at the transformer for a control fuse - alot of time there is not one and the transformer must be replaced.

Sounds like your compressor might have been hit by lightning. If you have 220 volts going to the outdoor unit use a stick to push the contactor in. The fan and compressor should start, if not check the capacitor. If the capacitor is good, the compressor is probably bad.

The lightening may of caused a surge and your unit may have it's own protector that resets and comes back on after a time frame programed into it.
