I have the Philips 55 in Rear Projections TV, after on Weekend we came back home and noticed all the digital clocks in the house was the wrong time, it seems when we were out the power in the house went out ... then a few days later I turned on the TV mentioned above. After I power on the TV the screen shrinks to (50%) and then back out to (100%) back and forth for about 15 minutes ... it seems to be getting longer. I read some where about a power regulator or power related problem. But there are no details on what i shoud replace or how i shoud go about to troubleshoot this issue. I am a very technical person, i believe that i can fix this with no problem. I have not done anything as yet to fix this. Please help. Thanks in advance.

- Thnks for the reply ... i also forgot to mentioned that this started about a month ago ... you are right i didn't relized that DST might affect the clocks, but it was before that. I will go and check the format/aspect settings. Not sure what it is set too right now, but i will check ... i will keep everyone posted.

- I check the TV and went through the settings ... there is no options for me to set the format/aspect ratio. No such settings on this model.
I connected the DVD to the TV and the same issue so i don't believe that the problem is the source.
If you have no sound or video or if your screen keeps shrinking and expanding its typicaly the opto chip. You can get the chip and repair instructions from www.magnavoxhelp.com . This is a fairly common problem.
the quetion is: have you checked your format/aspect settings? if it is on auto-format, picture size will vary due to program you are watching.....or is it a raster/width problem? The thing about the time on digital clocks: daylite saving time usually started last saturday, the federal goverment changed it, the fall back time is now this saturday! Most newer digital clocks auto-change according to old schedule....( not sure if you were aware of this ) let us know whether a width problem or what......

- after reading this, I would start with resoldering the connections in the horizontal circuts...flyback transformer, drive transformer, coils ect. looking very closely you may be able to actually see a cold connection on one of these....you would not belive how many intermittant problems have resolved be doing just that on all brands of set....I think it may be connections because it seems to work properly after some time being on....I would definitly try that first....let me know....

Philips9p5544c102 My tv works fine but the picture is making everything look whitish. It isn't too bad but it is noticable and annoying. I can't get it to adjust out either. What could be causing it?
