You didn't state the make and model of your camera so I'm assuming it uses SD cards.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

From your description it sounds like you have locked the card! While the card was being used it would be unlocked so when removed you should just read the card! What type of card is it and are you reading it on a PC?

Olympua m 760 cant take pictures screen says write protect

Your memory card has been write protected. This can be very easily fixed.
  1. Turn off cam.
  2. Take out the mem. card. (it's probably located near the battery. press down on it and release it. it will pop out.)
  3. Slide the small switch on the side of the card to the position marked with an unlocked padlock.
  4. Put card back in and turn on cam. Done.

Protected pics on cam

remove the memory card, there is usually a switch on them - move it to the other position.

its to protect the data on the card (so you can't write to the card).

Turn off "protection"

This seems to be an on going problem with all of the Samsung models sooner or later. 1st, check to make sure the protection tab on top of the tape is in record mode. Remove battery, wait a minute and replace battery, turning on the camera, place tape back into camera and close the door. If this does not work, the sensor is not reading that the tape is not protected. It is a service call but not worth the 150-195 in repairs to correct. Sometimes you just need to keep going, and going....
