Question about Washing Machines
With front loading machines this is VERY common. My teenage Daughters wear underwear that are so tiny that they get past the drum lip and get wound up in the pump impeller. Same thing happens with stuff left in the pockets specifically coins.
At the bottom usually the front of the machine there is a bailing tube next to the pump. Take the plug out and put it in a shallow basin to drain the water out of the drum. Then remove the pump access cover, it usually twists out. Then remove what ever treasure is jamming up the pump. Put the cover back on, put the plug back in the drain tube and if you like add a quart of water into the front of the machine to prime the pump again. Then test the machine.
To keep this from happening they make laundry mesh bags - if you use them then nothing will clog the pumps ever again. I tell my Daughters to get underwear that actually covers their butts. For some reason my plea falls on deaf ears. Go figure.

SOURCE: Washing machine will not drain
I have a maytag washer that when it fills with water it wont drain out..the spin cycle just makes a noise and it wont do anything..any ideas what i can do to fix it thanks

Washing machine stops at the spin cycle - light flashes. Have to drain water out manually. Happened last week and was then able to run an empty rinse cycle. Machine worked normally for another week. Same problem today but have had to drain water manually from the drum after trying an empty 90 wash and rinse cycle (both stopped on the Spin and flashed). Any ideas? Thanks. x
