Avid is a complete different animal. The logic is backwards from Pinnacle or premiere. If you're used to those, Avid will seem like a forgeign language. Also, projects aren't compatible with Avid.

SOURCE: I need a User's Manual for Avid Liquid 7

Hi tenoniacun35,

Below is a link which is a pdf file for the installation manual for Liquid 7. Let me know if this is what you need.

http://cdn.pinnaclesys.com/SupportFiles/attach/Liquid_InstallG_7_0_EN.pdf

Actually, I just reread your post again and you said you want a User's Manual. Try the site out below. There is an online manual available for viewing for free it looks like. There is also a free trial if you want to try it out. I've never tried it out myself so I can't give you my opinion on it.

SOURCE: I have Avid Liquid 7.2

Both yopur programs aren't certified to work on anything newer than XP. To make them work in 7 you must get the XP mode (which is basically a fully operational XP install running inside 7) and install your Avid programs in it.
But XP mode is officially available only to Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate versions so you will need to upgrade your Home install .
If you can't afford to upgrade you have the possibility to create yourself an custom XP mode as explained here
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/11060/create-an-xp-mode-for-windows7-home-versions-and-vista/

AVID LIQUID 7.2 NOT IMPORT AVCHD FILE PLEASE HELP ME

Reasons why we cannot usually make AVCHD MTS recordings accepted by NELs:

But what you want is more than that. Even some of you enjoy reviewing the raw videos, still most of users want to edit their bunch of video clips and then create their own short movie for future refresh. So some powerful NELs may come to as a solution. FCP, Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, Avid Media Composer, all those are good to use and easy to handle. But some of users may find that the raw videos came from their camera may not successfully imported into these NELs. Why? Because the unfriendly format of your video can't be supported by NLEs.

How to solve the AVCHD(*MTS) can't import Avid Media Composer this problem?

First , you need a powerful AVCHD Converter for Mac to help you convert your files into other normal format. The Avid Media Composer support AVI, MOV,MP4 ,etc. But you may worry about the poor quality after the conversion. Don't worry , this powerful converter can trans-code into normal formats and at the same time without any quality drop.

Transcode/Convert AVCHD MTS/M2TS Video to FCP Apple ProRes 422 without rendering...

Apple ProRes 422 is a standard-definition and high-definition lossy video compression format developed by Apple Inc. for use in post production. It was introduced in 2007 with Final Cut Studio 2 and is comparable to Avid's DNxHD codec which has the same purpose and uses similar bit rates. Both are DCT basedintra-frame-only codecs, and are therefore simpler to decode than distribution oriented formats like H.264. FCP/FCP7 is Mac based editing software which supports transcoding AVCHD MTS/M2TS to Apple ProRes for further editing.

AVCHD MTS/M2TS files produced by HD camcorder like Panasonic HDC-TM700, HDC-HS700, HDC-SD700/SD600, Sony CX350, Sony CX550, Canon HF200, etc are not the preferred formats by FCP/FCP7. Merge Canon Vixia HF11 AVCHD (mts) to Avid Media Composer 5 I'm a videographer...

Merge Canon Vixia HF11 AVCHD (mts) to Avid Media Composer 5

I'm a videographer for Rasmussen College. I have a BA in Film with concentration in Editing and Sound Designing and here at Rasmussen College my video projects vary from internal communications and training, to marketing (adds) and video content for the online classes.
The little cam I own for my work is a Canon Vixia HF11 which records AVCHD in .MTS files; I also have a Sony EX1R. I decided to use Avid Media Composer for editing because they advertised that the new version (5.0) will import AVCHD footage. The problem with those AVCHD files is that they are divided in chunks of 2GB each and most of the editing systems do not work well with reconstructing the footage. There are little apps (like MTSMerger.exe) that will merge them into a big file, but I have problems to import even these new big ones. The next step is to use a third party transcoder to convert the footage into something that Avid will easily accept (and I choose .mov with H.264 codec). It takes me some time to find out one good AVCHD converter that meets my requirements calledAunsoft MTS Converter after comparing several similar converting tools. This is how the program looks like:

Though the standard .mov with H.264 codec works quite well in Avid, but I will love to have a tool that will transcode this AVCHD footage into XDCAM EX type. A direct transcoder from AVCDHD formats to let say P2 and XDCAM-EX type for use natively with Final Cut Pro and Avid MC would be great. And if this software will also take advantage of NVIDIA CUDA and/or MATROX MAX technology that will be awesome. In the mean time I will probably buy TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress to use the Avid DNxHD Codec.

Mac Sony HDR-SR11 MTS to Avid converter-Convert AVHCD to Avid I have Sony...

Mac Sony HDR-SR11 MTS to Avid converter-Convert AVHCD to Avid

I have Sony HDR-SR11 AVCHD HDD camera to shoot family videos and beach videos. However, after I transfer .mts files from Sony HDR-SR11, Avid does not support the AVCHD file. I wonder the best AVCHD workflow into Avid from Sony HDR-SR11 and google for solutions.
I was recommended with Sorenson Squeeze to convert Sony HDR-SR11 MTS to Avid DNxHD codec. However, Sorenson Squeeze does not natively support .mts and the file extension should be changed to .m2ts. The conversion time is much longer than that the original clip. One thing should be mentioned is that the exported DNxHD is loaded quickly to Avid. Sorenson Squeeze also costs quite a lot. I just find a better Mac Sony HDR-SR11 MTS to Avid converter - Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac. The price is dramatically low comparing to Sorenson Squeeze, and the output MOV video works in Avid MC and Xpress Pro.
Here is how I import Sony HDR-SR11 camera videos to Avid Media Composer by converting 1920x1080 MTS to HD MOV.
Step 1. Load Sony HDR-SR11 videos to Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac.
Run Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac as the Mac Sony HDR-SR11 MTS to Avid converter on Mac Snow Leopard, and click the "Add" button to load HD .mts videos.
Step 2. Choose AVC MOV for Avid.
Click the "Format" option, and choose Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas > MOV (AVC)(*.mov), and the Sony MTS to Avid converter will transcode the HD MTS files to MOV for Avid MC, Xpress Pro.

Step 3. Convert Sony HDR-SR11 AVCHD to Avid.
Click the convert button under the preview window, and the Sony MTS to Avid Converter will start converting HDR-SR11 AVCHD MTS to HD MOV for Avid Xpress Pro, or the upgraded Media Composer 5.
As soon as the conversion in finished, you can import Sony HDR-SR11 videos to Avid Media Composer, Avid Xpress Pro for editing. The output HD MOV also works in Final Cut Pro and iMovie, and other non-linear editing software like Adobe Premiere on Mac OS X.
If you are using other Sony AVCHD cameras, you may also face the same problem. Have a look at the Sony HD camcorder page for Sony HDR-XR520, HDR-CX110, DSC-TX7, HDR-TG7 and other models.
