Look up Verbatim in the phone book. Find their phone number. Speak to customer service and they will repair/replace your unit free of charge, even if you don't have proof of purchase. I know, I just got my unit back, all fixed!

How do I fix a cellphone that won't charge at all when it is plugged in. I've tried turning it off, taking the battery out, and everything.

It could be a problem with the female usb port on your phone. Try shining a light inside where you plug it in and see if there is anything there. Here are a few phones with the female ports where you plug in your charger.
25894004-w32j5maowckw4u0pbavragxd-2-0.png Use something like a toothpick to clean out inside there. If you use something too hard, it can damage the inside of the port.

If there is nothing in there, it could be the cord. Have you tried multiple cords and cubes (wall adapters)? Here is the iPhone version, but really all that changes is the business end of the charging cord, so it still applies.
25894004-w32j5maowckw4u0pbavragxd-2-1.jpg If you have tried multiple combinations of cords and wall adapters, then it might be that the charging port on your phone is broken and needs repairing. A sign of this being the case could be the cable being able to wiggle around too much when plugged into the phone.

If these other solutions do not work, you may need to replace the female micro/mini usb port in your phone, which could be above your skill set and you may need to hire a professional, or someone who knows their way around a soldering iron.

My Samsung Galaxy S Captivate has a loose charging port. It will not charge unless I push up on the cable at the exact right spot. How can I fix this?

Maybe try using a different USB connector. It may not be your phone, but the wire or wall plug itself. If that fails then I'd suggest taking your phone into a phone repair store to get your charging port replaced. The same thing happened to me and I took it up to foxpaw and it was only about $50. A new USB cord is around $5 at any walgreens or gas station.

Hi, this video should be helpful to you:

Once you have extracted the hard disk from the case you can either try resoldering/replacing the damaged USB connector/port or replace the shell/caddie with another one.

Connect usb port

Check all computer connections and cords. Is the powerstrip for surge protector light indicator bar (usually inside the off/on switch itself) on?
All it takes is a pet to walk over it or a foot to bump a cord and break the power connection. Mine do it all the time. Check the power on/off button on the printer to see if it accidently got powered down.

This is NOT a USB plug, it is firewire. This is a similar but competing technology. Only plug firewire devices into firewire ports not USB.

My passport 500gb external just stopped working. It froze up so I removed it and plugged it back in. When I plugged it back into my computer it starts spinning but then makes a click sound and stops.

The clicking sound is caused by the spindle inside the hardrive, because it was not removed properly. Just connect you external hardrive to your computer, if it makes the clicking sound again dont remove it yet, just restart your computer properly. In that way all the devices connected to the computer will be refreshed and properly shut down. If it is not detected still, unplug the haardrive then try another USB port. Recommended ports are at the back of the CPU if your using a desktop. These USB ports have higher voltage output that can power up all external hardrives properly.

I have just purchased the iomefa desktop hardrive and not sure what todo next

If you have a USB or Firewire cable you can just plug it into the USB port or firewire port in your computer and plug the power cord in if you have one and it should start recognizing it.
