How do you know it did not copy the screen if you do not paste the clipboard in a picture editing or a text editing program? You must paste the content of the clipboard somewhere.
Anyway, there a lot of free screen capture programs. One I use is PickPick. Be careful when you install it, and refuse the installation of other tool/search bars that come with it. Just the program itself. Here is the link. Click the Free Download.

Pres Ctrl and Prn Sc together to take a capture of your screen then in your office or drawing program, press Ctrl and V together to dump it on your page.

You need to press the Fn key and the Print Screen key together. The screenshot will be copied to the clipboard on Windows 7, or it'll be saved to the Pictures library on Windows 8. If this still doesn't work on your PC, you can use Snipping Tool, or a Free Online Screenshot tool.

How can I take a screenshot on my laptop computer

What laptop?
What Operating System?

In windowss you can use the "Print Screen" function by pressing the "PrtScn" key on an extended keyboard. If you hold the "Alt"-key while pressing the PrtScn-key, it takes a snapshot of the currently active window.

Then you have to open a paint or Word document. Now you can paste the screenshot.

If you use Windows 7, click the Start button and type "Snipping Tool". This will start the built-in screenshot software.

Why doesn't my print screen button work?

Hi

The PrtSc (Print Screen) key when pressed will seem to do nothing but it does when you hit the key it puts a copy of your current screen to the clipboard.

To prove this do as below

1 press the Prtsc button on your desktop
2 Load paint and choose new
3 go to the paste option or press CTRL+V and you should get a copy of your desktop in paint.

How do I use the prtsc button on toshiba ? It has END/prtsc. THANKS

If the 2 words written on the key are different colour then you might have to press the Fn key + End/prtsc for one of the options. If they are both the same colour then the Shift key + End/prtsc.

The Fn key has the same colour letters as the key which is pressed with it to perform a particular function.

PRTSC will dump the screen, if you are in Windows. Open Word or another document viewer, press PRTSC and copy the clipboard to Word or whatever programme you use, (right click in the programme and paste).
Print Screen.

What does the key with the letters PrtSc SysRq on an acer aspire do (whats its function)

if you hit just the prtsc sysrq button and open up a blank paint document, you can paste an entire screenshot into a picture document. if you hit control alt prtsc (It's short for print screen) you can take a screenshot of just the current window.

Please give me 4 thumbs if this helped!

Cannot save Window screen image with Alt-PrtScr

if there is an 'fn' key on your keyboard then your combo would be
fn+prtsc+alt - to capture top windows and fn+prtsc to capture entire screen
If however your prt sc key is combined with another key and written on top then you need to use
shift+prt sc + alt to capture top windows and shift+prtsc to capture entire screen

I'm tring to use a print screen to send out a report and I cant remember how to insert the print screen

The way I do it is to save the window image by pressing print screen and then pasting the saved image into Paintbrush. You can save it as a jpg instead of a bmp, if you like. Then you simply attach the saved image file to your email.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Print Screen key will not inititate the printer to print

Hi!

The Print Screen key on your computer doesn't really print the screen. What it does it take a picture of the screen, and puts it into your clipboard.

You can then Paste (Control-V) the image into a program such as Paint or Word.

Print Screen by itself does a full screen image capture.

Control-Print Screen only takes a picture of the topmost window.

I hope this helps.
