Question about Technics Audio Players & Recorders
Ive had hifi since new although i never used it for years. i really started to notice as i use the hifi as a sound system for my tv and it first started with taken ages to read discs ive used cd cleaning disc its been fine. lately cds got jammed into changer and i had to open it to remove them this has happen couple of times when full and now i only put 1 cd in at a time incase this happens again. it still takes ages to read a disc or it may say no disc ive thought about buying the changer seperate to save theses issues happening can you help in anyway. thanks.... i have just sent this and got reply back i stay in edinburgh
Have you opened the case? Inside the actual cd drive unit there should be a couple of small rubberband like belts. You can try replacing them. It may help. If that doesn't work ,it may be time for a replacement. I have a tendancy to hang on to old audio equipment long after it should have been replaced. It's just hard to let them go! Good luck with it!

Describe your system in greater detail. Does the preamp have a mechanical selector for the tuner/phono/CD or does it have a digital selector that you can operate with a remote? The problem might just be a dirty selector switch that need to be sprayed with Deoxit contact cleaner. It could also be bad cables so try swapping cables with the tuner.

Hello sir, there are several things you should check for, first the impedance of the amp and speakers, do they match 8ohms to 8ohms, two the amplifiers heat sink is it sufficient? or the amp. may need an extra cooling fan. third the main amplifier is the culprit. check each one and let me know if there is progress. thanks

I would first look for poor solder connections. It is possible that with the moving of the unit, a marginal connection finally broke. This is not unusual for a unit that is 20 years old. Check with a local repair shop for the labor costs, but this unit is definately worth a $100-$150 investment. If you;d like, post your location here and we'll try to provide you with some referrals.
